Din Soh Art Gallery & Studio is the same name with Dinsoh road passing in front of the studio. Dinsoh is the local term which means pencil in English. The registered house number of this studio is 151/3. This block of house used to be part of the whole land plot of a rose garden which goes back then to 1917. Dinsoh House was built in 1960 by the landlord of the whol
e area (WARDHANA HOUSE), Dr.Tanom Komalawardhana, a medical doctor. Inherited by his only son, now it becomes the Dinsoh Studio. From times, past, lots of business keep changing from generation to generation. Since 1960, almost six decades elapsed with different business changing i.e. barber shop, driving school, noodle shop and SPA parlour. it’s now the elegant Dinsoh Art & Gallery Studio
The process of renovation is like Sharpening of pencil (Dinsoh), the drawbacks always come along while undergoing. We realize the complexity and scales of problem (big / or, small) are so huge and require the meticulous guts to overcome the intricacies of obstacles and conflicts to be accomplished. Just imagine the similarities of renovation of a ramshackle hut built over six decades. From the above – mentioned during the initial survey and planning, we learn a lot of problem-solving methods and decision – making. Together the team of architects, engineers, and internal designer etc. sit and talk together. they are all close friends of acquaintances. They work in wonderful harmony. This helps in contributing the alleviation of the difficult situations. No matter how situations and problems keep escalating, they are a group of strong
people and friends of dignity with immense sincerity. They respect and understand one another very well. Together they keep on and on, the show keeps going on. After sitting and talking for sometimes, lists of priorities of changes have been jotted down for renovation. T-bars and I-bars were put up to give more stability for the first floor. Ceiling and floors be scraped off and replenished. The stairs to the first floor has to be removed and reshaped to give a better inner vision of the studio. Being aware of the contemporary Art and Gallery Studio, it was decided that all the wall be also scraped off to the brick layer and be re-coated with new cement a simultaneity be painting with white color for the whole studio. Clues of the past of the renovation of Dinsor House Give us a glimpse of history, i.e. the color used, material of different eras, decoration, people life-style and tastes, needs and appropriated of each different generation and the categories of business. The whole process of renovation tells us the wisdom and gaps of each generation in the times past. The differences between ours and Ubosot is the temple is that our walls have no paintings whilst Ubosot does. Acknowledgements
I am neither a writer of an artist scholar, just someone with a group of acquaintance professionals. This is not a complete or perfect paragraph of acknowledgement of compliments. It is just thanks and my gratitude to all of them. I write this with evolving heart. Nothing and nobody is perfect because things keep changing. Ultimately, it is the quality of my own heart that is important and not the intricacies of obstacles and conflicts occurred. I am wholeheartedly grateful to my parents for their dedication and generosities of love and support throughout. How blessed I am to have such the strong, kind-hearted, humble and considerate parents. They hand me down the glimpse of light and hope for the betterment of future, Shedding the light to the possibilities of wisdom and learning life. From the beginning throughout the completion of renovation, it is quite the complexity and scale of problems which requires much supports and understanding to be accomplished. I, therefore, advocate all the goodness to my friends of acquaintance and my husband who always fill the gaps and correct and re-correct mistakes and mistakes. Thanks to my neighbors for their kindness and tolerance of the annoying and disturbances during renovation
