Pre Hispanic Water Whistle*
These vessels contain water and air chambers connected to a whistle. When the vessel is tilted or liquid moves inside, air is forced through the whistle, producing bird-like or whistling sounds. They were often shaped like animals or humans and likely used in rituals, ceremonies, or storytelling.

These vessels combine art, engineering, and music, showing how ancient societies integrated sound effects into everyday and ceremonial objects.

•Sahumador, in honor of
the sacred animal spirit of the Eagle.

“SAHUMADOR” (incense burner) is one of the oldest ceremonial clay pots in pre-Hispanic cultures.

This ceremonial instrument has a particular shape, on the front, it has a pot and also a handle which makes handling this utensil much easier to use.

“SAHUMAR” means “perfume with smoke”
In pre-Hispanic cultures, the “incense burner” has different shapes and motifs representing people, moments, animals, and unknown beings.

In pre-Columbian cultures, the eagle was a sacred symbol of strength, power, courage, wisdom, and spiritual connection to the divine. It represented a link to the heavens, carrying prayers to the gods and symbolizing the highest point of vision

This figure represents a young shaman apprentice in his isolation. In some ancient pre-Columbian cultures, the young shaman in his training stage was isolated from the rest of the community so that he could learn from the older or more senior shaman. This isolation lasted around four years, during which the young apprentice only had contact with the people who served him food and the senior shaman master.

This art piece portrays a pre-Columbian “king”, known as a ‘cashique,’ who wielded absolute authority within his community and is adorned with symbols of power, spirituality, and connection to other realms. He wears a bird hat, signifying his ability to transcend and connect with other realities. The two reptile heads on his dress symbolize transformation and power. He holds a sak yant stick, which appears to be an integral part of his being. The features fish ornaments at its base, representing water as a symbol of movement between realities.
The sound system used in this vessel comes from the ancient “Vicus” culture and it creates two different tones depending on the intensity of the movement while performing this instrument.

This beautiful instrument represents the elegance and great presence of a dancer who represents a deer, since the deer, with its great majesty and elegance, makes subtle movements that make it seem as if it were dancing in the middle of the forest while galloping at its pace.
