Accent lighting has two grammars. Either the fixture disappears, or it becomes a small deliberate mark on the wall. Both are right. What’s wrong is a fixture you notice by accident.

High up in the Ta**us mountains, Selge was hard to reach — but made to be seen. A Pisidian city whose Roman theatre was set into the mountainside, every seat turned toward one point. Accent light has the same instinct: it doesn’t fill a room, it decides what you notice. Selge is one of EMFA’s accent fixtures — for the detail that earns the light.

Pedasa kept watch over the Halikarnassos peninsula — a Lelegian city that would not bow when the Persians came up the coast.

At dusk the light leaves the peninsula. The watch does not: on the rock above the acropolis, a flag still keeps the post.

PEDASA, our surface-mounted fixture, takes its name from here. Bracket-fixed to the wall, it holds its position — and keeps the threshold after everyone is gone.

The light withdraws. The watch remains.

High above the Aegean, Aristotle taught at Assos - the school that thought on its feet. Today, a family of EMFA fixtures carries this name.

Heritage Series, Chapter Three.Most places were built. Göreme was carved.In Cappadocia, communities cut churches, homes and whole cities into soft volcanic stone. There is no glass and no lamp — light enters only through what is cut into the mass, and gathers in the hollow: a bright void in dark stone.
GÖREME — bollard and pole — is that same image at another scale, except here the light truly does come from within. An opaque cast aluminium body with a lit hollow inside it: the acrylic diffuser. The LED sits within the body; the light is not thrown, it emerges through the diffuser and reveals surface and texture without glare.
Light doesn’t only fall on the stone. It also comes from within.

Heritage Series, Chapter Three.Most places were built. Göreme was carved.In Cappadocia, communities cut churches, homes and whole cities into soft volcanic stone.
