Continuing the artist’s ongoing exploration of time, memory, and perception from his 2023 exhibition tangere, TAPESTRY returns to a space that has long persisted within his consciousness—one in which the past has never fully receded, nor the future remained entirely somewhere ahead.

大河美術很榮幸呈現 Tessar Lo 全新個展《TAPESTRY》。延續其 2023《tangere》對時間、記憶與感知的探索，本展再次回到那長久存於其意識中的空間：在那裡，過去並未真正退去，未來亦不全然位於尚未抵達之處。

《TAPESTRY》中的繪畫皆始於「被描繪／被抽取出之記憶（drawn memory）」的概念。藝術家所關注的，是一種既清晰又遙遠的感知狀態——事物彷彿近在眼前，卻始終保有某種無法真正跨越的距離。記憶從不是等待被完整還原的圖像，它被喚起又重新沉沒，彼此覆疊，並在每次回望中悄然改變形狀。作品如同一道道開口，不同時間像是經緯線般彼此穿行，曾經歷的事物、想像與渴望，甚至那些僅被隱約感知的無名之物，都可能再次相遇。最終，在即興、偏離與遊移間逐步生成，鬆動我們所認定的現實。

《TAPESTRY》所渴望的，正是這些存於流動縫隙裡的美好：熟悉與陌生間細微的溫度變化，記憶與當下間的距離，以及殘像與回憶間若有似無的時差所交錯出的生命地圖。邀請觀眾進入這流連於黃昏與夜晚的空間——

或許，我們只在其中短暫停留。
又或許，我們從未真正離開。

RIVER ART GALLERY is pleased to present “TAPESTRY,” a new solo exhibition by Tessar Lo. Continuing the artist’s ongoing exploration of time, memory, and perception first traced through “tangere,” Lo returns to a space that has long existed within his consciousness: a place where the past does not simply recede, nor does the future remain somewhere yet to be reached.

The paintings in “TAPESTRY” begin with the idea of a “drawn memory.” Lo is drawn to a state of perception that feels at once clear and distant—where things seem almost within reach, yet retain a distance that can never quite be crossed. Memory is never a fixed image waiting to be fully recovered. It is called forth and submerged again, layered and quietly reshaped with each return. Each work becomes an opening through which different times pass like interwoven threads; things once experienced, imagined, or desired—even those nameless things only faintly perceived—may encounter one another again. Through improvisation, digression, and meandering, they gradually take form, loosening what we have come to understand as “reality.”

What “TAPESTRY” reaches toward lies precisely within the beauty of these shifting intervals: the subtle changes in temperature between the familiar and the unfamiliar, the distance between memory and the present, and the barely perceptible lag between afterimages and recollection—a map of life woven through these temporal gaps. The show invites us into a space lingering somewhere between dusk and night—

Perhaps we remain there only briefly.
Or perhaps we never truly left.

Ending | Into the Fern Glow．拜訪暉蕨之森

《Into the Fern Glow．拜訪暉蕨之森》展覽將於本週六結束，本次聯展為大河美術首次的跨域合作，連結了臺港兩地的藝術交流。非常感謝參與的合作夥伴、藝術家及蒞臨觀展的貴賓，在過載的殘光之中，漫遊在這座被忽略已久的暉蕨之森。

展覽的結束並非終章，在拜訪及覺知的路程過後，終要帶著豐沛的能量回到日常。邀請您把握時光到現場參觀，並期待下一次的展出。

“Into the Fern Glow” will conclude this Saturday. As RIVER ART GALLERY’s first international collaboration, the exhibition has brought together artistic exchange between Taiwan and Hong Kong. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our collaborators, participating artists, and guests who have joined us, wandering through this long-overlooked Fern Forest amid the afterglow of an overcharged world.

The end of the exhibition is not the end of the journey. After a passage of visiting and awakening, we eventually return to our daily life, carrying with us the abundance of energy we have gathered along the way. RIVER ART GALLERY invites you to make the most of these final days and visit the exhibition in person. We look forward to welcoming you again at our next exhibition.

BLOCK SEVEN:The Softly Waking Garden｜微光初醒的花園

王筱璦的創作探索內在精神，轉化並重構自然物質，以多媒材結合自然蘊含的能量，梳理個體與世界的關係。本次帶來的三個系列作，呈現她藉由自我觀照與自我觀察，進入、觀看與辨識夢境的路徑。《心象植物譜》源自於每日睡前不懈的繪畫實踐，透過在創作過程中沈澱與省思，積年累月成為潛意識的觀察紀錄。《心影》系列則深入潛意識，將夢境視為現實的縮影，層疊與覆寫之間，呈現記憶、情緒與意識交織的成果。

《Totem》受電影《全面啟動》中，分辨現實與夢境的圖騰所啟發。偽裝成鵝卵石的貝殼，或神似木屑的虎頭蜂巢碎片，直指夢中旋轉的陀螺，是辨識夢境的座標，亦是讓我們感知現實，指引甦醒的關鍵。這些錯置的偽裝物件暗藏在輕盈夢幻的歐根紗中，提醒我們在如今世界中，於虛實間保持自清的重要性。

Hsiao-Ai Wang’s practice explores the inner spirit, transforming and reconstructing natural materials while combining multiple media with the energies inherent in nature. The three presented series trace the artist’s process of self-reflection and introspection, through which she enters, observes, and comes to recognize the realm of dreams.

“Atlas of Inner Flora” originates from her persistent practice of drawing before sleep. Through contemplation, these drawings have accumulated over the years into a record of observations of the subconscious. The “layered mind” series delves further into the subconscious, treating dreams as reflections of reality. The works reveal the intertwining of memory, emotion, and consciousness.

“Totem” was inspired by the totem in “Inception”, used to distinguish between reality and dreams. Shells disguised as pebbles and fragments of hornet nests resembling wood shavings point to the spinning top within the dream—a point of reference for recognizing the dream state, while allowing us to sense reality and guiding us toward awakening. These disguised objects lie hidden within the dreamlike layers of organza, reminding us to maintain clarity between reality and illusion.

BLOCK SIX：The Overgrown Ruins｜荒生遺域

廖雯的《墜夢》以香椿木、櫻桃木、青田石、石墨與海綿等常見於城市空間與建築中的材料層疊構成，並結合陶瓷製成義肢連接器。作品被安置在略高於視線的位置，並以帶有苔蘚的斑駁牆面作為背景，使其與天井及空間原有的機體結構彼此呼應，細膩的燈光切下，共同營造出近似城市廢墟的奇幻景象，彷彿一截肢體自廢棄建築中異生而出。

作品向下傾斜的姿態，暗示了人在進入深層睡眠、肌肉逐漸放鬆之際，大腦因誤判身體正在墜落而向肌肉發出的收縮指令——亦即所謂「入睡抽動」的保護機制。在高度運轉的城市生活中，身體偶然出現的失序或異狀，或許正是使我們意識到自身生命的提醒，也可能是本能在無意識中啟動的自我防衛機制。廖雯藉由城市空間與身體、現實與夢境之間的詩性交錯，探討當代個體的孤獨，以及潛藏其中的韌性。作品同時揭示身體處於閾限狀態時原始而不穩的不安，並由此開啟對未來身體及其多重可能的想像。

Liao Wen’s “Hypnic Jerk” is constructed from layered materials commonly found in urban and architectural environments, including Chinese toon wood, cherry wood, Qingtian stone, graphite, and sponge, combined with a ceramic prosthetic connector. Installed slightly above eye level against a weathered, moss-covered wall, the work responds to the atrium and the site’s existing structural framework. Under carefully directed lighting, these elements coalesce into a fantastical urban ruin, as though a fragment of a body had emerged organically from an abandoned building.

The work’s downward-tilting form alludes to the moment just before deep sleep, when relaxing muscles can prompt the brain to misinterpret the body as falling and trigger an involuntary contraction—a protective reflex known as a hypnic jerk. Within the relentless pace of urban life, such moments of bodily disruption may not only return us to an awareness of being alive, but also signal an instinctive form of self-preservation operating beneath consciousness. Through this poetic entanglement of body and urban space, reality and dream, Liao explores the solitude of contemporary life and the resilience embedded within it. The work evokes the primal unease and instability of a body in a liminal state, opening onto multiple possibilities for the body’s future.

BLOCK FIVE:The Fractal Valley of Inner Strata｜

余政諺此次的創作始於對「閾限（Liminality）」狀態的思考，缺失儀式秩序的現代社會，閾限狀態已然成常態。他將目光轉向自然，在蕨葉的展開、樹枝的分岔、河流的延伸、岩層的沉積等生態中的生長規律中，看見這些自然分形（Fractal）結構同樣存於記憶、夢境、潛意識與身體感知之中。

他將創作視為精神考古，挖掘沈積於身體與時間深處的感知痕跡，堆積並轉化貝母、石材、金屬等自然物質，讓這些閃耀著光芒、層層疊疊的材料，像是煉金術般精煉成記憶、情緒與經驗的物質載體，訴說著生命本源的故事。細緻的作品成為自然與內在、物質與精神之間的閾限場域，在建立自身的生命秩序中，不畏未知的迷航，重新校準並與世界連結。

Yu Cheng Yen’s latest body of work begins with a reflection on the state of “liminality.” In modern society, where ritual structures have largely dissolved, liminality has become an increasingly pervasive condition. Turning his gaze toward nature, Yu observes patterns of growth and transformation in the unfolding of fern leaves, the branching of trees, the flow of rivers, and the sedimentation of rock strata. In these ecological processes, he finds fractal structures that also emerge within memory, dreams, the subconscious, and embodied perception.

He approaches his practice as a form of spiritual archaeology, excavating traces of perception embedded deep within the body and across time. Through the accumulation and transformation of natural materials such as mother-of-pearl, stone, and metal, he transforms their luminous, layered qualities into material vessels for memory, emotion, and experience. His meticulous works become liminal sites between nature and the inner self, materiality and spirit, where he navigates the unknown, recalibrates his sense of being, and reconnects with the world.

《Into the Fern Glow 拜訪暉蕨之森》的策展人導覽於上週六圓滿結束，感謝各位蒞臨。本次展覽為大河美術首次的跨域合作，集結藝術家出身的氣候，展開一場關乎城市、夢與記憶的精神旅程。在策展人的引導下，相伴著遍佈展場的蕨類、潮濕柔和的暉光，觀眾逐步走入七位藝術家的夢境生態Block。

展覽將持續展出至 10 月 3 日，RIVER ART GALLERY 邀請您擁抱未知、重新信任無名的本能，探索這座被遺忘已久的原始蕨林。

The tour of “Into the Fern Glow” took place last Saturday. Thank you to everyone who joined us. Marking RIVER ART GALLERY’s first cross-regional collaboration, the exhibition brings together artists from diverse backgrounds to embark on a spiritual journey through the intertwined realms of the city, dreams, and memory. Guided by the curator, visitors gradually entered the dreamlike ecologies of seven artists, surrounded by ferns throughout the exhibition space and bathed in a soft, humid glow.

“Into the Fern Glow” will remain on view through October 3. RIVER ART GALLERY invites you to embrace the unknown, rediscover your trust in unnamed instincts, and explore this long-forgotten primordial fern forest.

大河美術與您分享藝術家王尋於人間衛視節目《藝次元宇宙》的專訪影片。從雕塑訓練出發，到赴紐約深入國際動畫產業，跨域經驗拓展了王尋的創作視野。他將數位創作中的動態、時間與視角帶回雕塑，使虛擬思維在現實空間中成形。

身處瞬息萬變的數位時代，面對工具與科技的不斷演進，王尋始終秉持對藝術的堅定與純粹初心，持續探索創作與時代之間的關係。

RIVER ART GALLERY is pleased to share an interview with artist Xun Wang on METAVERSE, a program by Beautiful Life Television.

Beginning with his training in sculpture and later immersing himself in the international animation industry in New York, Wang’s cross-disciplinary experience has expanded his artistic perspective. He brings movement, time, and shifting viewpoints from digital creation back into sculpture, giving form to virtual ways of thinking within physical space.

In an era of constant digital transformation, as tools and technologies continue to evolve, Wang remains committed to the sincerity and purity of his artistic practice, continually exploring the relationship between art and its time.

BLOCK FOUR:The Pool of the Inner City｜流於意識的城池

陳惠立的泳池不只是放鬆運動的場所，當素昧平生的陌生人，赤裸地坦誠相見，是關乎權力關係、公私領域界線曖昧模糊的微妙場域。

其中，電影中的泳池場景尤其具標誌性。本次展覽的作品，以電影《虎視眈眈》（2001，臺譯：性感野獸）與《倒數時刻》（2021）內的泳池場景為靈感。象徵著殺戮時刻即將來臨前的平靜，以及逃離現實的出口。陳惠立刻意將人物抹去，使觀者更能沈浸在他筆下的水光。大幅的作品延伸他對影片中泳池的想像，層次精細的藍色磁磚吸引著目光，緩緩沒入在水池之中。

For Wai Lap Chan, the swimming pool is more than a place for leisure and exercise. When strangers who have never met before find themselves exposed and vulnerable in one another’s presence, the pool becomes an ambiguous and subtle space where power dynamics unfold and the boundaries between public and private become blurred.

Among these references, swimming-pool scenes in film are particularly emblematic. The works in this exhibition draw inspiration from the pool scenes in “Sexy Beast”(2001) and “Tick, Tick... BOOM!”(2021), evoking the calm before the moment of violence and the pool as an escape from reality. Chan deliberately removes the figures from his compositions, allowing viewers to immerse themselves more fully in the play of light and water that defines his paintings. In his large-scale works, he expands upon her imagination of these cinematic pools: layers of finely rendered blue tiles draw the eye inward, gradually dissolving into the depths of the water.
