當不同背景的設計師相遇，
材料往往成為最好的共同語言。
近期，美美實驗室迎來一場設計交流。在松山文創園區國際事務組楊晶晶經理的牽線下，我們接待了目前於台灣進行研究的 美國家具設計師 沈海力 Häli Barthel。
海力畢業於羅德島設計學院（RISD），並為 2025–2026 Fulbright Student Researcher。她的創作長期關注材料、時間與價值之間的關係，並透過重新運用被忽視或廢棄的材料，探索物件新的生命。
交流中，我們分享了美美實驗室的品牌理念與材質研究，也討論了設計在理想與現實之間的距離，以及材料如何在不同脈絡中被重新理解。
這樣的交流再次提醒我們：
設計之所以迷人，正是因為它始終保有探索與試驗的可能。
When designers from different backgrounds meet,
materials often become the most universal language.
Recently, Suii Suii Lab hosted a design exchange with American furniture designer Häli Barthel, who is currently conducting research in Taiwan. The visit was made possible with the kind introduction of Ms. Yang Jing-Jing from the International Affairs Office at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Häli is a 2025–2026 Fulbright Student Researcher. Her work explores the relationship between materials, time, and value, often reimagining overlooked or discarded materials to reveal new life and meaning.
During the visit, we shared Suii Suii Lab’s design philosophy and ongoing material explorations, while reflecting on the distance between design ideals and real-world practice—and how materials can be reinterpreted in different contexts.
Encounters like this remind us why design remains so compelling:
it is driven by curiosity, experimentation, and the search for new possibilities.
