Here is the English version of my design thinking and insights on the accessories.
Retrospective of the Design Thinking

Spatial Atmosphere and Style:
New Oriental Aesthetics~ Drawing inspiration from ancient Chinese scholars' studies, the design's core incorporates numerous Eastern elements. Imagery and vertical lines, such as those of "bamboo" and "rattan," were used to avoid a literal representation, opting instead for a modern, abstract approach. The embossed bamboo-joint patterns on the walls, the slender, abstract "drip" light fixtures, and the wooden lattice screens all convey a subtle, elegant Oriental cultural charm.
Modern Minimalism~ The space intentionally avoids complex decorations, focusing on pure geometric lines and solid blocks. For instance, the designs for the cabinetry, the island-style reception desk, and the ceiling are all presented in a clean, minimalist style.

Material and Color Palette:
Balancing Natural Roughness and Delicacy~ The selection of materials was a process of repeated deliberation. Ultimately, wood, stone (or stone-like materials), and metallic finishes like brass or rose gold were chosen to create a contrast between warmth and coolness, much like the feeling one gets from a sunrise and sunset in nature. The wood provides a warm feel, while the raw texture of the stone adds a touch of natural, primitive character.

An Elegant, Natural Color Scheme:
The main color palette is based on earth tones, such as off-white, light gray, and warm wood colors, complemented by metallic accents. This creates a space that is layered yet sophisticated. The use of low-saturation colors aligns with the demand for a serene and comfortable atmosphere.
Striving for Natural Light and Shadow Design:
Use of Indirect Lighting~ The design heavily features indirect lighting, such as light strips beneath the embossed bamboo-joint wall patterns, hidden ceiling lights, and built-in cabinet lighting. This approach, which mimics natural light, is soft and glare-free. It enhances the three-dimensional quality of the space and highlights the sensory differences brought by various material textures, while also creating a warm, gentle ambiance.

Accent Lighting:
The pendant light above the island serves as a visual focal point for the entire space. Its unique shape and warm light give the space an artistic flair. The use of a half-cut pendant light and countertop, combined with the reflection on the mirror, creates a visual illusion of an expanded space, infinitely extending the view beyond the original spatial constraints.

Elements and Details:
Bamboo Forest Imagery~ Whether through the three-dimensional embossed bamboo joints on the wall or the distant plant landscape visible through the glass, the goal was to bring natural elements indoors. This also echoes the natural imagery of "sun" and "moon" behind the project's name,
"Ming Ming" (明明).

Concealed and Open Storage:
The wall-mounted storage cabinet features an open bookshelf design and uses mirrors to extend the sense of space. This fulfills functional needs while maintaining the overall simplicity of the space.
The initial design thinking aimed to integrate Oriental aesthetics with modern minimalism. Through careful control of materials, light, and details, the goal was to create a textured, serene, and meaningful living space. The design's philosophy is perfectly aligned with the project's later name, "Ming Ming," which conveys the meaning of "just right."

Regarding the Interior Accessories:
The Interplay of Reality and Illusion with the Raindrop Pendant Light~ Through reflection in the mirror, what appears to be a half-line fixture visually forms a complete raindrop shape. This not only adds a playful element to the design but also creates a unique visual focal point, giving the light a richer, more layered presence.
The Mirrored Countertop Extension~
The mirror placed below the countertop effectively extends the visual perception of the space, creating the illusion of a floating countertop. It also guides the viewer's gaze into this virtual space, creating a more profound spatial experience.

By using this design technique of interweaving reality and illusion, the project aims to create unexpected visual effects, demonstrating a deep understanding of spatial perception and psychological guidance. The use of mirrors is not merely for expanding space but also a form of guidance and a game, inviting the viewer to interact and imagine between the real and the virtual.
