昨天是建築大師柯比意（Le Corbusier）逝世61周年。現在大家習以為常的俐落線條、開放式格局、明亮室內，以至把戶外生活帶進家中的設計思維，都有他的遠見作為重要起點。
作為20世紀最具影響力的建築師之一，柯比意同時亦是設計師、藝術家和城市思想家。從開放式平面、橫向長窗與屋頂花園，到順應人體而設的經典家具，他重新想像住宅如何容納光線、空間和日常生活。
「I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster, and allows less room for lies.」他於1961年如是說。對柯比意而言，草圖不只是表達設計的工具，更是構思建築的起點；而那些線條，後來化成改變現代生活的空間與理念，至今仍啟發着當代家居。
Today marks 61 years since the death of Le Corbusier, the architect whose ideas helped define modern living. The clean lines, open layouts and light-filled homes we now take for granted all owe something to his vision.
