It is also made without rush or potboiler. Or at least so I aim. International shipping is possible.

Hi! My name is Yuliya, I'm based in Kyiv, Ukraine. 'Here and Now' is clay tableware that I make with nature and people in mind. This pottery is handy in everyday use and does no harm to environment and health at any stage of its lifecycle. Part of the materials are reused, found during long walks in nature or saved from waste in the city. This project is my attempt to combine personal passion with participation in the much needed possitive change in our society. A percentage of profits will go to support environmental projects in Ukraine. I'm also open to various and unusual ideas from grass-roots initiatives.

Proud to be part of the 10th Tseglyna Contemporary Ceramics Festival in Kyiv! Tseglyna is an independent gallery and an exhibition led by Olesia Dvorak-Galik, featuring the best artists in Ukrainian ceramic art.
Two pieces from my Hyperaccumulators series are featured alongside dozens masterpieces.
The place has been hit in the recent missile attack on the city. But with the help of the community, the organizers were able to fix everything just in time for the opening. Miraculously, none of the exhibits were damaged.
Thank you, Olesia and everyone who makes art possible in these difficult times.

🎉Dear all! We have reached the fundraising goal for the clay class! Together, you donated $1100 and 14,000 UAH (~$300). Massive, massive thanks!

Every time this project needs support, kind-hearted people step in so quickly to help. We now have enough funds to run the hospital art workshops for 2.5 months. Here’s to the art and healing!

We especially want to thank those whose generous donations helped us close this fundraiser so quickly: Karen L. and her students, Alina K., Maija L., Leonard S., and Anna S. It is such an honor and joy to have friends like you.

The winner of the prize — the miniature sculpture from my “Hyperaccumulators” series — has been selected by randomization software. Congratulations, Leonard !

We also decided to add another small prize for our donors from Ukraine: a cozy ceramic house by Polina . It goes to Ivan Tsud!

A special thank-you goes to the Irpin Running Club , who dedicated their latest event to supporting the clay club. You rock!

Yours,Yuliya and Roksolana

‘Self-portrait with Thin Skin’
65 × 35 х 35 cm
2026

In this piece, I worked through some personal stuff, while also trying two new things construction-wise.

First, a new way of connecting the sculpture parts. My kiln is rather small, so in order to make anything taller than 40 cm (16 inches), I have to divide the piece into sections and assemble them afterward. Here, the torso has extra length in its lower part that inserts into the skirt. This creates an easy and reliable connection, much more convenient than gluing layers together.

Second, I was looking for a way to pierce the sculpture from the inside. It was easier with the wider lower section, but to reach every part of the body, I ended up cutting the entire piece open, piercing and deforming it, and then attaching it back together. Doing this with soft, pliable clay was quite a challenge.

I enjoyed working on the sculpture, but it felt like something was missing; it still wasn’t “speaking” to me. Then, at the very last moment and without much thought, I added a small crown to the side of the head. Suddenly, the piece felt complete.

👀So, what do you think of this little princess? I’d love to hear your feedback.

❤️‍🩹 I didn’t fully understand how important our hospital ceramic class is until my husband was wounded on the battlefield. While doctors are doing everything they can to save his leg, my colleague Roksolana and I are preparing to restart the class. And you can be part of it. Yes, this is a fundraiser!

⏳A quick recap: last year I launched free, trauma-informed claybuilding workshops for military and veterans of the current russian war in Ukraine. Soon after, we were invited to run regular classes for amputees in a local military hospital.

It’s been really cool, and the participants genuinely look forward to it. With support from friends near and far, we’ve kept it going (thank you Karen from the UK, an anonymous regular supporter from Ireland, and all our friends from Ukraine!).

Check to see what the class looks like.

In April, my husband was injured and evacuated from the frontline. I paused the classes to care for him. During this time, I visited several hospitals and met many veterans. It became very clear how much these small moments of creativity matter.

🦿🦾Many patients spend months, sometimes up to a year, in hospital. In some places there are activities, in others there is very little beyond scrolling and smoking. Boring!

We know that art and community help. Our classes are regular, adapted to any ability, and bring a bit of lightness into a difficult time.

The hospital even gave us a thank-you letter on a letterhead, so it’s official now 😸

With the letter, we’ve applied for a grant that, if successful, will support the project from July. Until then, we kindly ask for your help to keep it running.

We’re raising $1100 to cover materials, transport, firing, and small honorariums for two months.

🏆For entertainment, every $10 donation = one entry into a giveaway. I’m raffling a prototype from my ongoing Hyperaccumulators sculpture series. Who knows, one day it may cost a fortune! And I’ll cover shipping.

Donations via PayPal: [email protected]

If you’d like to support the whole amount (and take the piece home), send me a message 💛

A like, comment, or repost helps too.

At the recent ‘Blossoming in the dark’ exhibition opening. So friendly and crowded! Great to see people’s reactions to some of my new works, as I drift further away from functional to installation.
