On the wall, the project exists in several moments at once.

In museums and galleries, the wall is part of the experience of the work. It isolates a piece, controls where the eye rests, creates relationships between works, and shapes the way we move around what we are looking at. What is placed beside something, the space around it, and how it is positioned all affect how it is understood.

The same is true here.

What you see on the wall is a series of negotiations: how much soft landscape can the hardscape hold? Where does the private garden become a shared courtyard? How does water find its way through the site?

Not forgetting the colour that helps us read those questions. Green marks planting depth, blue follows water and retention, ochre gathers places of pause. The paper itself becomes a site, carrying the traces of ideas as they move.

A drawing pinned up in the morning can look clear on its own. By the afternoon, another sheet has gone beside it, a line has been traced across the two, and suddenly a relationship appears that was difficult to see before.

This is a glimpse of where we've been the last few months.

As Louis Kahn said, “Architecture begins with the making of a room”
