‘Behind every great man is a great woman’, this well-known proverb certainly also applies to Vincent van Gogh. On International Women’s Day we want to put his sister-in-law, Jo Van Gogh-Bonger, in the spotlight.

Aged 28, Jo lost the love of her life. Her husband Theo van Gogh died, leaving Jo with their baby son and an apartment filled with his brother Vincent’s artworks. She has to decide what to do with the hundreds of works by Vincent van Gogh, and the rest of the estate. It was Theo’s dream to promote Vincent’s work, but can that also become her purpose?
