G.H. Wertz was a prolific photographer in Abingdon, Va in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. He was mostly known for his studio portraiture work but he also photographed a panoramic view of downtown Abingdon in 1915 that includes the Martha Washington and Barter Theatre.

I retouched this portrait for a private client. His great great grandfather was a founding member of Abingdon. While scanning and retouching the portrait for printing I noticed the photo studio logo and had to learn more.

What a difference a frame makes. Swipe ➡️ we double matted this watercolor to bring out the different tones of the barn and mountains in the background and of course we added museum glass.

I had the best time teaching Teen Photo Camp last week Art Lab We learned digital photography, film photography, processing, and spent a full day in the darkroom. They exceeded my expectations on how quickly they learned manual exposures, their engagement in the art of photography and their ability to explore different techniques. I look forward to teaching more photography workshops, teen camps, and darkroom classes Art Lab
