Titled “Cypripedium Flower,” this is a reprint of an original design by Japanese artist and printmaker, Tanigami Konan (1879-1928). It is part of the “Shin-Hanga” (lit. “new prints”) movement of early 20th centrury Japan, which revitalized the traditional ukiyo-e artwork of the 17th to 19th centuries. We’ve archivally presented this piece in an aged black profile from Larson Juhl, matting by Crescent Brands with a painted bevel, and TruVue 99% UV filtering and anti reflective “Museum” glass.

This is a signed and numbered limited edition print from an original watercolor by Howard N Watson (1929-2022) which depicts the Benjamin Franklin Parkway leading up to the PMA. Watson was a celebrated African-American watercolorist, illustrator, landscape artist, and teacher. Known for his impressionistic style, he often depicted the historical buildings, neighborhoods, streets, and landmarks of the Philadelphia region. We’ve presented this piece in our archival and economically priced “Artist Special” package, with a painted bevel mat upgrade.

This charming pair of mixed media drawings was done by our customer’s young grandson - it’s his graphic interpretation of a walk they took together! His drawings were done using a combination of crayon, nature stickers, and watercolors. We archivally framed these pieces as raised float mounts in a red and gold woodprofile from Fotiou’s “Mosaic” Series, Artique (Larson Juhl) matting, and TruVue 99% UV filtering and anti reflective “Museum” glass.

Here’s a quick recap of our highlighted designs from this week! We started off by framing “Mountain Cherry” by Kawarazaki Shodo, a Kacey Musgraves concert poster, and a stone fragment containing crinoid fossils from the Cambrian period. We then framed a ceramic armadillo tile by Gretchen Kramp, and wrapped up the week with a limited edition David Byrne poster designed by Julia Fletcher. This is a signed and numbered limited edition David Byrne poster designed by Julia Fletcher. A music-based graphic designer in Brooklyn, NY, she created this official poster for Byrne’s 2025 performances at The Met in Philadelphia, PA. We’ve archivally presented this piece in a glossy blue wood profile from Roma Moulding’s “Lavo” collection, with TruVue 99% UV filtering and shatter resistant “Conservation” acrylic.

This armadillo tile was designed by artist Gretchen Kramp. While she orbited the ceramics world for several years, it wasn’t until 1995 that she began to make her own work out of clay. Since then, she has become a a full-time tile artist, exhibited in multiple galleries and fairs, and created public murals, including installations at the Detroit Zoo and Children’s Hospital of Michigan. We’ve archivally presented this piece in a red float frame from Fotiou’s “Tango” collection.

These are original crinoid fossils from the Cambrian period, dating back 520 million years! Crinoids are marine invertebrates with numerous feathery arms, and their descendants still live in oceans today, from shallow waters to depths of over 30,000 feet. We’ve designed this archival shadowbox presentation using an aged silver wood profile from Roma Moulding, fabric mat by Crescent Brands, and TruVue anti-reflective “Ultra Vue” glass.
