DREAM...🎶

Sometimes I don't allow myself to think about or talk about my dreams for our future. Things seem too far out of reach, or too big, or too crazy, or too whatever. Also, if I say it out loud and it doesn't work out, then what? So....today I am giving myself permission to dream and live in that dreamy state for as long as I want! What are your dreams?

ALIGNMENT
I love when things align perfectly. Today's affirmation naturally lent itself to today's goal: focus on only that which I can control. I knew today was going to be a bit challenging and even a bit emotional for me. This couldn't have been a more perfect reminder and was exactly what I needed to hear today. Everything in perfect alignment to start my day, and I used it as a reminder throughout the day.

PERFECTION

The affirmation made me think this morning: Progress over perfection. Sometimes I get hung up on having everything be just right. But I am not Golidlocks! Lol!!!! Does that ever happen to you too? Absolutely nothing needs to be absolutely perfect. So that's my goal for today: focus on the progress. Who's with me?

Get your pens ready!!! April is happening soon. We made a couple of changes to the April Edition. First, we switched to pure white paper. I thought the cream color would be more soothing to the eye, but my highlighters didn't show up very well. So we changed that. Also, we switched out the notepad paper design, just to keep things interesting! And every day has a new illustration at the Reflection box. My story:
We were mid-spelling test and the class was quite, focused, and working hard. Very rare for a chatty first grade classroom! Anyway, my feisty little one (who i absolutely adore) is using a wobble stool because she has a bit of energy. A wobble stool is shaped like an hourglass and has a rounded bottom. So I am working with another student across the room, and she BELTS out: 🎶 "I came in like a wrecking ball..." 🎶 I look over, and she is sprawled across the table, stool almost parallel to the floor, one arm up in the air, precariously balancing. She did, indeed, look like she came in on a wrecking ball. I couldn't even give her my "teacher face" because I had to turn around and laugh out loud! I love those moments in my classroom!

My journaling technique:
I am quite the artist! I drew a stick figure illustration and attached it with clear tape. I wrote the story underneath, therefore doubling my space.

My story:
I am a first grade teacher. I have been using daily affirmations and deep breathing techniques with my students for years and years. One of the affirmations is , "I am strong." Know who I didn't use this affirmation with? Myself. I didn't realize it until I read the grown-up version of the simple affirmations this morning. It was powerful to let that circle through my mind this morning and relate it to me.

My journal technique:
I love how the affirmation and mindful bedtime breathing often connect. As I was breathing in strength tonight, I also wrote "I am strong" with every inhale. It was an amazing way to enhance the strength of this nightly ritual.
