Leather postcards made from deer hide were a popular novelty fad between 1903-1907. The US Post Office banned them in 1907 because the pliable leather jammed sorting machines and stamps easily peeled off. This mailing craze quickly ended once the postcards were required to be placed in a paper envelope.

This collection of cards were from central Iowa. With a few stamped "Adel".
