We’re in the final stages of packing—wrapping books, filling boxes, and trying to remember just how much we thought we could fit in the trailer. Next stops: The Country Living Fair and then The Compound

🎃 Vintage Halloween, Just the Way We Like It
A little strange, a little spooky, and wonderfully imperfect.
These vintage Halloween figures have all the things we look for—the hand-painted faces, faded colors, paper ruffles, pointy hats, black cats, pumpkins and just the right amount of mischief. 🐈‍⬛🎃

No shiny new Halloween here. Give us the slightly crooked grin, the chipped paint and the fellow who looks like he’s been haunting someone’s attic for the last 80 years.

We’ve been gathering these old Halloween characters for our fall shows, and frankly, some of them are becoming very hard to convince ourselves to sell. The Country Living Fair

A favorite fall find! 🎃 We recently uncovered a collection of vintage Georgia red clay jack-o’-lanterns, several still in their original boxes. Each has its own wonderfully quirky personality, and we’re excited to be bringing them to the The Country Living Fair !

The Art of the Oyster Plate 🦪
There’s something wonderfully excessive about a plate designed for just one thing.
From delicate roses and soft pinks to hand-painted oysters, gilded edges and wonderfully odd little details, no two seem quite alike. We’ve been gathering vintage oyster plates including a collection of Limoges ones for our upcoming shows, and the collection has gotten a little out of hand—which, frankly, is exactly how we like it.
Part tableware, part sculpture, and entirely collectible.

Sometimes you should judge a book by its cover. 📚
Especially when the covers are wrapped in hand-decorated paper.
Long before mass-produced book covers, decorative papers brought color, pattern, and individuality to bindings like these. More than two centuries later, the colors remain remarkably beautiful—even with the rubbing, fading, worn corners and wonderfully uneven edges that tell their own story.
For us, that wear is part of the appeal. These aren’t simply old books; they’re little surviving pieces of decorative history.
Beautiful then. Perhaps even better now.

Made Better With Time. 🍂
There’s something about a piece that already has a story—the chipped paint, worn edges, faded color and all those little imperfections that simply can’t be reproduced.
This old green bench is exactly the kind of combination we love: useful, unexpected, and full of character.

A little gilt, a little color, and a whole lot of charm. ✨📚
We have always had a weakness for beautiful bindings, and these 19th-century cartonnage books and Florentine pieces are especially hard to resist. With their intricate gilt decoration, wonderful rich hues and charming illustrated scenes, they are truly little works of art.
We love them not only as collectible books, but as decorative objects—stacked on a table, tucked into a bookcase, or mixed among favorite antiques and curiosities.
Beautifully timeworn, wonderfully ornate, and each one completely unique.
