❤️ THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE FOGS.
When people think about a small business, they often think about the people who own it.
But one of the greatest things owning Fort Orange General Store has taught me is that a small business is never really just about the people behind the counter.
It’s about the makers and artists who trust us with their work. The customers who walk through our doors and become familiar faces. The downtown neighbors who cheer us on. The collaborators who say yes to an idea. The people who recommend us to a friend, share a post, or stop in just to say hello.
It’s about the conversations that last longer than expected, the connections we never planned to make, and the people who remind us why supporting small businesses matters.
Joe and I may have taken the leap to own Fort Orange General Store, but the story of FOGS is being written by so many more people than the two of us.
Every local maker represented on our shelves. Every person who chooses to shop small. Every neighbor working to make downtown Albany a place we’re proud to call home.
You are part of this story, too.
And that’s what makes this more than a store. It’s a community.
So, if you’ve ever visited FOGS, supported one of our makers, recommended us to a friend, shared our story, or simply stopped by to say hello, thank you. Truly.
We’re proud to be part of Albany, and we’re even prouder of the people who make this community what it is.
Now we want to hear from you: Who is a local maker, small business, or community member you think deserves a little extra love today? Tag them below. Let’s celebrate the people who make Albany special. ❤️
