Please do your due diligence and have whoever installs a new floor in your home after the recent floods, check for the proper moisture content. This will save you time, money, and energy in the future. You do not want to lay a waterproof floor over top of a water issue that's not been contained or resolved. Remember waterproof flooring is waterproof from the top and bottom.
Important Flooring Reminder After the Recent Flooding

With all of the recent flooding in Delaware County and surrounding areas, we want to remind homeowners of something extremely important before installing any new flooring.

Make sure the home and subfloor are completely dry before installing new flooring.

If your home has a crawl space, basement, concrete slab, or wood subfloor, moisture can remain long after the standing water is gone. Installing flooring over a damp or moisture-compromised area can lead to buckling, cupping, mold, adhesive failure, or other flooring problems down the road.

Before installing new flooring after a flooding event:

• Make sure basements and crawl spaces are dry.
• Make sure the subfloor has had adequate time to dry.
• Have moisture levels checked when appropriate.
• Address any water intrusion or drainage problems first.
• Don't assume that because the floor looks dry, it is ready for flooring.

The best-looking flooring installation can fail if moisture underneath it isn't addressed first.
