A lighting layout has to look good after sunset—and behave itself in the bright New Mexico daytime, too. With Albuquerque’s strong sun and plenty of dust, it’s worth thinking about how visible fixtures and wiring will be against your home when the lights are off.
A helpful first step is to look at the roofline from the street in daylight. Notice where trim, stucco, and architectural details naturally guide the eye; those are good clues for a clean, balanced layout. Permanent lighting can add a little sparkle at night without needing to be the star of the show all day.
The best design often feels right in both kinds of light.
