To me, it means, thinking what can I do with something instead of throwing it out
To me, it means, saying how a piece of old glass, frame, wire, pile of papers or newsprint, wood, plastic bag or clothing can be made into original art. To me, making something new and art original from old materials has become second nature. I see a junk yard as a resource, or a garage sale, or a thrift store, or s

omeone’s attic. This is useless waste but an idea waiting to happen. Those empty glass bottles can make a lovely design in a window, or by the front door. Will you join me in thinking, saying and doing something about our brown footprints we are leaving everywhere? Help to make the world a greener place, one old used discarded object at a time. Think GREEN ART and join a growing movement of artists that want to create beautiful from what was ordinary. Heather Whitney~ Professional Artist

In Finland, where winter nights can be long and biting, trams are carrying more than just passengers—they’re carrying warmth in the form of kindness. As part of a quiet public initiative, many city trams now keep “warmth bags” tucked inside—small cloth bundles or hanging pouches filled with donated scarves, mittens, beanies, and wool socks. These items aren’t forgotten belongings; they’re intentionally left behind by commuters for anyone who might need them.

Each evening, as temperatures drop and the city slows, tram doors stay open just a moment longer at key stops. Anyone boarding—whether a regular rider, someone seeking shelter, or a person simply caught unprepared for the cold—can reach into the warmth bag and take what’s needed. There are no rules, no questions. Just fabric, offered in silence.

The items are typically handmade or gently used, tagged with simple notes like “Stay warm” or “Left with love.” Some bags even include reusable heat packs or packets of herbal tea. Tram drivers and city volunteers discreetly tidy the bags each night, restocking when donations allow.

These warmth bags are more than practical—they’re deeply symbolic. They move through the heart of the city, touching strangers without ever speaking a word. They remind riders that the smallest gesture—a scarf draped on a hook, a pair of mittens folded into cloth—can travel farther than the route map suggests.

In Finland, even public transport becomes a vehicle for care.
