Running a small business definitely comes with its challenges.

In 54 years, Allen Flower Shop has been through all kinds of economic climates, changes, and ups and downs. But let me tell you… the equipment breakdowns have been coming for us this year!

In April, we had to replace our front display cooler. Then this past month, we had to replace parts on our walk-in cooler. I know the compressor has been replaced at least once over the years…but THIS old condenser?

This baby was pulled out after 54 YEARS of service! 😳

I’d say she served us VERY well. Fifty-four years in a flower shop is pretty impressive!

And anyone who knew my mom, Carolyn, knows exactly what she’s been saying up in Heaven:

“Well, it’s Ginger’s problem now.” 🥹😂

Thanks, Mom.

Finding older treasures is always so much fun and we have a lot!

I recently came across an old newspaper ad that shows just how long Allen Flower Shop has been a proud member of the Allen Chamber of Commerce. Fun fact we were actually a Chamber member before it became an official Chamber.

And then I found this fun 1981 football poster!

So many of the businesses listed in these are no longer here…but we are! Still here. Still family-owned. Still serving the community that has supported us for generations.

And what perfect timing! High school football season kicks off tonight! There’s just something special about Friday night lights, hometown traditions, and looking back at where it all started.

Since 1972, Allen Flower Shop has been part of Allen’s story, and we’re incredibly proud to continue that legacy as Your Texas Treasure Historic Business!

Well… they want to be us. Again. 🙄

A little reminder from your actual local, family-owned florist: Don’t be fooled by online-only flower websites that look local but aren’t.

Before you order, go to their homepage and look for a real, physical business address. If you can’t find one, ask yourself why. A pretty website doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a local florist behind it.

And here’s the frustrating part…

We work HARD for this business. We’ve been serving Allen and our surrounding communities since 1972. We pay local taxes, support our community, and put our heart into every arrangement that leaves our shop.

So when an online-only company uses our name or makes itself appear to be us, it isn’t just annoying, it hurts our small family business.

Allen Flower Shop is a trademarked name. We shouldn’t have to spend our time and money sending cease-and-desist letters because someone else wants to ride on the reputation we’ve spent more than 50 years building.

We’d really rather be making flowers.

So PLEASE, when you need flowers: Know who you’re actually ordering from.

And if you love having a REAL local flower shop in your community, tell your friends! Recommend Allen Flower Shop when someone you know needs flowers.

Word of mouth is HUGE for a small family business like ours, and your support truly means everything.

We don’t want to be anyone else. We’re proud to be Allen Flower Shop, a Texas Treasure Historic Business.

Creating personalized sympathy tributes is always a privilege. It’s an honor to help tell the story of a life so deeply loved.

This tribute was created to celebrate a cherished fishing buddy, with love from his closest friends. To make it even more meaningful, they included the very last fishing worm he ever use (the black one in the center). It’s those deeply personal touches that transform flowers into a lasting tribute and remind us that every life leaves behind a unique story.
