It is with a heavy heart we share this post from Rustic Journeys but we have bright hopes for the future! Follow them to stay up to date as they plan for the next steps and moving forward.
This is a long post…. Please read to the end.
It has come as a shock to us, and we never thought we would need to post this; however, we want to be transparent with you because we feel like you are our family.
We have lost our lease. What does that mean? Unfortunately, we have closed our doors until we can find another location. We will reopen.
What happened? During COVID the management company of the Town Center, Phillips Edison (PECO) on behalf of their clients (the landlords) told us to pay what we could, and they would work with us to pay whatever arrearages in the future. Being trusting we agreed to this. We tried to work with them multiple times to pay what we could. They have been disingenuous over and over. We have taken out loans to meet demands and Luanne and Sam have never taken a paycheck ever. Everything we make we reinvest into the store because we love what we do.
What’s next? We have already decided that we want to stay in the Winter Springs area. We love it here. The city has been nothing but supportive. We love hosting different events with them like the Trotwood Food Truck and Artisan market, Coffee with a Commissioner, and donating prizes for events.
Speaking of the City of Winter Springs… Please do not bash the City or any of their employees. The City has always been pro small business and wants the Town Center to be successful, but the Town Center is owned by an outside company and is managed through the Philips Edison Company (PECO) and they will not work with us nor the City. If you have been in Winter Springs area for any amount of time you know that the Town Center has had historical turn over. The rent is astronomical, and the CAM fees are astonishing. A small business cannot survive. We gave it our best shot!
This won’t change who we are as store. We will always help our community in any way we can. We will continue to donate baskets to your charities, donate coffee to the local schools, and support other small businesses because that is who we are. Creating community through coffee and creativity is not just a tag line to us. We believe in it with our whole heart.
We have the best customers! We have moved before, and we survived last time because of you. So, we ask again for you to follow us on our next adventure. We aren’t done yet! Stay tuned for better and bigger things!
If you require Dixie Belle Paint Products, please message us. We will continue to provide what you need during this transition.
PS. Rustic Journeys has reached out to all private class hosts, custom orders, and folks waiting on furniture and Coffee Bar Founders in which this transition will affect. We absolutely wanted you to know prior to this message on social media. --- Back to Packing!!!
Sincerely,
