-WINTER’S GLOW OVER MEREDITH-
Last night, just after 4 PM, I was closing up my gallery and getting ready to head home when I looked up and noticed the clouds. That was all it took. I decided to take a quick detour and set up my camera on the opposite side of Meredith Bay, looking back toward the very spot I had just left. I only had to wait about five minutes before the sky exploded with color! I’ve photographed this location more times than I can count, yet it never looks the same—no matter the season or time of day. It’s only a couple-minute drive, and with the sun setting around 4:15 PM, there really wasn’t any other option. The town of Meredith always looks spectacular, but I especially love it this time of year when the Christmas lights are glowing. Lake Winnipesaukee looks almost completely frozen from this vantage point, though it still has a bit to go—and with today’s rain and warmer temperatures, that certainly won’t help. I hope you enjoy!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!

-WHISPERS OF AUTUMN SILENCE-
Situated just off Meredith Neck road is the Union Church and cemetery. The church provided a striking backdrop on this foggy fall morning, while the gravestones served as an interesting foreground. I initially visited this location in the winter, capturing it blanketed in snow, but I had always intended to return in the fall. The combination of dark orange leaves and the foggy atmosphere created a dramatic contrast, evoking both a sense of eeriness and beauty. Although I should have posted this image on Halloween, sharing it a day later still seems fitting. Is it merely a coincidence that cemeteries consistently feature the most stunning trees surrounding them? I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! I was handing out over 20 pounds of candy on Main Street Meredith from 5 PM – 8 PM and I was completely cleaned out! Lots of unique costumes this year!
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!

-SMOKE ON THE WATER-
What a breathtaking sunrise over Lake Winnipesaukee this morning! I took a brief respite from capturing fall foliage and decided to revisit one of my preferred locations to capture the vibrant colors of the sky over Indian Island in Meredith, New Hampshire. In addition to pursuing the colorful leaves during autumn, one of my other favorite subjects to photograph is lake fog, which was particularly prominent this morning in Meredith Bay. Although temperatures are expected to rise again to the 80-degree mark early next week, this morning was somewhat chilly, with a low of 42 degrees. Someone ought to boat out to the island and provide Chief Chocorua with a hat and some mittens. It was the first time in a long time where my toes and fingertips were freezing! I need my body to acclimate to the impending colder weather very soon.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!!!

-SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS-
On Monday, my friend Dave LaBar and I embarked on a hike up The Table Rock Trail in Dixville Notch to capture the sunrise witn the peak Fall colors and the results were breathtaking. I set my alarm for 2:30 AM and made the three-hour drive north, arriving around 5:30 AM. Due to the darkness, we relied on headlamps to navigate. Although the trail is only 0.8 miles, it is extremely steep, which proved challenging for someone as out of shape as myself. In retrospect, I should have packed lightly, bringing only one camera, one lens, and a lightweight tripod. Instead, I opted to carry a 50-pound bag containing all my equipment and a heavy-duty tripod. The weight and steep incline forced me to stop every 50 yards to catch my breath. Upon reaching the summit, we were rewarded with stunning views of Lake Gloriette and the Balsams. However, the shot I was after was this one. If you’re afraid of heights, this spot is not for you! One missstep and it’s bon voyage!!! Typically, I seek higher altitude clouds in the sky to capture vibrant colors at sunrise. On this occasion, I hoped for clear skies to achieve a sunburst as the sun crested over the horizon. What a rewarding experience and a view that I’ll never forget! Hope you enjoy this photo!
