Mitchell Creek Farm Mitchell Creek Farm has been a lifelong dream slowly coming true as my husband and I build our own homestead on our land here in Alvord.

Yal are gonna have to help me name the LGD puppy that will officially arrive on Tuesday next week.

It’s a boy!

Look at this fluffy marvelousness. Lacie girl will be happy to have a friend to train to be her guardian partner.

All this rain is pushing the crawfish higher up! This little guy was found in our driveway. We relocated him to a puddle and he readily started digging a new hole.

Never thought we would have a crawfish farm 🤣

Gotta love watching a storm come in. Putting the cars in the shop… again…

Seems as long as we do that the hail misses us, I’m not generally superstitious but if it aint broke, don’t fix it 🤣

One of my favorite breakfasts with our sourdough English muffins.

Take a small amount of cream cheese and spread it on your toasted muffin. Add diced banana on top, then drizzle hot honey from Nielson Honey Farm Texas on top.

So so so good and my most recent go-to breakfast 🤤

Though I will enjoy the day at home projecting with my husband, I remember the meaning of this day.

My family is familiar with the loss that comes from war. My father, a Marine, who joined during Vietnam. He of course lost plenty of friends in his 23 year career. My brother, Air Force, whom has literally planned his friends funerals when no one else was there to do it. My Uncle, Army Green beret. My husband, Air Force. And the list goes on with cousins and family friends.

Please take a moment to remember and be grateful for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

The last 2 weeks have been difficult. We lost our first goat to a coyote attack. I have been so mad at myself for not having better protection in place and mentally it really screwed with me for a bit.

But if there is one thing I have learned in life starting from a young age with a Marine as a father and then continuing to have that reinforced through building our homestead literally one nail/screw/piece of material at a time, it’s to adapt and overcome.

We now have an electric fencing line to keep predators at bay and we got our first LGD added to the pasture. Her name is Lacie and she is such a good girl. We love her already.

All this to say…. This life has a learning curve. It isn’t always pretty, it isn’t always perfect (not by a long shot), but it’s worth fighting to get it right.

When your friend has a “branding bar” at her wedding, McKay Dendy, you get your business initials done on the good ol’ State of Texas.

What a great evening for even better people.

Oakley post op day 3:

- 1 leather leash murdered
- 1 bake day delayed start waiting for the “patients” meds to kick in so she’d stop running in circles around her leash and/or eating my legs/hands
- 1 rawhide bone mostly demolished in attempts to entertain her while I baked all day.

****send help, even Remmy was easier post-op and she only had 2 brain cells as a pup that were programmed to demolish and love***
