After finishing up 80% of the garden tasks FINALLY, we got to spend some time at one of my most favorite places this weekend. My parents backyard 😊
Almost my entire childhood was spent here, and I’m so happy my kids get to grow up here too. We picked fresh Mulberries and Blueberries. Fished. Made a fire and had s’mores. The most perfect weather this weekend!! I hope you all got to get out and enjoy it as well!☀️

Congratulations on your retirement!! 💜

Finally at the point where we can start snipping from the gardens. Everything you see in this arrangement came from outside! I did buy the dahlias last week as mature plants. I can’t help myself. As soon as I see them in store, I always buy a couple for extra early blooms. And these two do not disappoint! It’s go time friends, and I’m jumping for joy!

One thing about running a small business: I’m always learning, growing, and trying to serve people in the best way possible.

If something ever feels off or disappointing, I would much rather hear about it directly than never know at all. Your feedback matters to me because you matter to me.

At the end of the day, you’re paying for a service, and I want you to feel 100% happy and confident in what you receive. If there is ever an instance where you’re just not feeling it, don’t hesitate to tell me. Be direct. Don’t beat around the bush. Keep it real. I promise my feelings won’t be hurt, but it will cut deep if I hear weeks later that you were not satisfied. This goes for anything that comes from Funky Fresh, from Weddings to Joy jars and everything in between. It will take mere moments to fix things, so please please let me know!

I love what I do so very much. It brings me immense joy to create for you all. I’m also an open book and love to hear feedback. If you have used any of our services recently or received a bouquet and would like to give feedback, I’ll link our feedback form in the comments. 🫶🏼

Sometimes I get flowers and I don’t even want to sell them 🫣 These Peonies are one of those times. Goodness. The color. The fluff. The fullness. These girls are GIANT. I always hate when Peony season is over, but that just means the next round is gearing up to Blume!

Things are happening in the gardens! 😍
I just got back from a 3 day camping field trip with my daughter and came home to so much growth! 🌱
Some of my experiments from fall are proving to be successful!!! I am so pumped! I was able to successfully overwinter some of my Snapdragons and almost all of my Dahlias!!! I can’t even believe the Dahlias actually survived! I took a true risk when I left them in ground, everyone told me I couldn’t in our zone. If you know me, you know I had to see for myself! AND IT WORKED!! 🙌 They are growing fast so we should have Dahlia Blumes earlier than last year!! I also acquired some new varieties that I can’t wait to show you! Softer tones that make you feel calm. ☺️
We have the privilege of knowing another fantastic flower farmer a little further out with much more patience and knowledge than I have who sold us some Lisianthus plugs to try our hand at. Lisianthus has to be started months in advance and be babied the entire time. I just didn’t have the time, but thank you Jesus for Katelyn. I’m so excited to see how they turn out. Our Yarrow and Feverfew overwintered perfectly and are about to start flowering. The Nigella that I planted too late last year is blooming and I almost love it too much to cut it 🫣 The most fascinating little flower! I tried my hand at some Anemone and Ranunculus, they are coming along great, but I got them in late; if it gets too hot too soon, they probably won’t bloom. But we shall see!! Gladiolus are popping up nicely and we should have Bachelor Buttons, Calendula and Larkspur sooner than later! I’ll be planting out our Zinnias, Cosmos and Sunflower seeds tomorrow. Along with our wintersown Statice, Asters and Scabiosa! I am giddy with excitement envisioning what’s to come! I hope you are too and you continue to follow along as I keep trying to bring more beauty and smiles to our community! I wouldn’t be here without you, so thank you again to those who love flowers as much as we do! 🫶🏼

The past few weeks have been so beautifully busy with Prom, Teacher Appreciation, Nurses Week, and Mother’s Day! That kind of busy where you’re just in a flow state, head down, moving and grooving. And while it was indeed a lot for just me, I am always HONORED to create for you all. When you include me in these special moments, you’re getting one of a kind, custom curated and precisely placed creations. You will NEVER see me just throwing things in a wrap or sticking flowers in a vase and sending it out. Everything that comes out of Funky Fresh is carefully and thoughtfully made to fit you or your recipient. I’m so weird, I even go as far as wanting to see a picture of recipients sometimes. Just to get a vibe for who they are and what they may like. I’m not your every day florist, and I don’t want to be. I want to hold space for you, I want to be easy to work with, and I don’t ever want you to feel like you’re just “another” customer. You guys are helping to feed my family and allowing me to do something that brings me immense joy!!! And I am forever grateful for your trust! With all that being said, I just want to say THANK YOU again for loving flowers as much as I do, and for supporting our small business.

I hope all you Moms out there had the most amazingly beautiful perfect days Sunday. I hope your kids listened, the house was “clean,” and your significant others told you all day how wonderfully perfect you are. I hope you always remember that without you, there would be no us. Your job is the most important job there is. You’re changing the world just by being you. 🫶🏼
