It is with great reluctance and sorrow that I must announce that as of December 18th, 2021 Mom’s Sewing Basket will be closing its doors forever.

It has been wonderful serving all of you and know that the many friends we made here will be missed.

Rest assured that Kathy will continue to get the quilts that are here done before we close.

Susie will be available to handle your fabric and notions needs.

Thank you all for supporting Darlene’s dream.

It is with heavy broken hearts that we deeply regret to inform everyone that Darlene lost her battle with Covid-19 on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Mike and Jaime would like to thank everyone at Mom’s for all of the cards and the love you gave Darlene. They brightened her days and were greatly appreciated.

A memorial service will be held in the future. The date and any Covid restrictions will be announced. Mike and Jaime are asking that instead of flowers or other gifts if you would like to make a block that reminds you of Darlene. Any blocks received will be assembled into a memorial quilt for Darlene that will be displayed at the store.

Hello Everyone

We apologize for the delay in updates as well as the length of this post.

Things have been a little hectic here at Mom’s. As some may be aware Darlene and Mike caught Covid right before thanksgiving. Mike has fully recovered, however, Darlene was taken to the ER on 12/4 due to difficulty breathing. She was admitted and transferred up to the ICU. After a brief period of improvement she had a decline and was intubated and placed on a vent on 12/16. 8 days later she was able to come off of the vent and seemed to be making improvements. On New Years Day she was placed back on the vent following another decline and the decision to perform a tracheostomy and insert a pacemaker was reached. These procedures have been done this week and she was able to transfer to Regency hospitals long term acute care unit where she will be receiving therapy to aide her recovery. She is facing a long road but we are all praying for her.

We all feel her absence at Mom’s and miss the joy she brings to the store but we are working hard to keep things running smoothly during her recovery. We know she loves all of her Mom’s Sewing Basket family and has appreciated your continuing support and prayers.

Kathy and Sue are working hard at the store and greatly appreciate your support during this time. Mike is stopping in every time he is able. We apologize for any inconveniences and appreciate everyone’s patience while we adjust to Darlene’s absence.

Your loyalty and support have been amazing these past 5 years and we look forward to many more to come.

Thank you again
Mike, Kathy, and Sue.

Edit: You’re welcome to send any cards to the store. Mike will share them with Darlene and forward them to her as she is able to receive them.
