How to find the participation gap that's quietly costing your fundraiser

1/ Count your members on paper, that's your ceiling
2/ Count who actually sent one message to one contact last season
3/ Subtract the two numbers, that gap is your real problem, not the product
4/ Pick one person to own recruitment before your fall launch, not after
5/ Set a per-person goal so every seller knows exactly what "enough" looks like

What's the hardest part of getting your group to actually participate, not just sign up? 👇

Your group needs $2,000. Here's the math, no guessing required.

20 sellers. 13 items each. At 50% profit on every $15 package of flower bulbs, that's $7.50 back to your group per sale.

20 × 13 × $7.50 = $1,950. One or two extra sales and you're there. 🌷

No upfront costs. No minimums. Supporters get quality Holland bulbs with a Grow Guarantee, and every Pink Ribbon Tulip sold also supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation's mission of helping women now.

If you have the goal, Dutch Mill Bulbs Fundraising has the path. Drop a comment or send a message to get started. 🌱

Booster club fundraising works better when families understand the goal and what their participation can actually accomplish. Start with the WHY, then show them the plan. 🌷🔥

This partnership is especially meaningful to me because my sister recently celebrated 25 years cancer-free.

If you’d like to support NBCF through this fundraiser, purchases of any of the 18 Fall options on their fundraiser page support NBCF:

For all other Dutch Mill Bulbs fundraising groups, Pink Ribbon Tulip purchases are the ones that also contribute to NBCF’s mission of Helping Women Now®.

Fundraising shouldn’t create more work than the money it raises.

Schools, nonprofits, booster clubs, scout groups, churches and community organizations are often relying on a very small number of people to manage fundraising on top of everything else they already do.

That’s why I’m such a big believer in keeping fundraising simple.

With Dutch Mill Bulbs, groups can use online selling, printed brochures, or both, and leaders have access to tools that make promotion and tracking easier.

Simple systems. Clear tools. More time for the mission.

Fundraising leaders are already doing enough.

You’re organizing volunteers, answering questions, promoting the fundraiser, tracking goals and trying to keep everyone motivated.

One of the things I’m exploring with AI is simple:

How can we make fundraising easier for the person leading it?

Better communication.
Faster planning.
Useful templates.
Clearer follow-up.
Less time reinventing the wheel.

AI can’t replace the relationships that make a fundraiser successful.

But if it can give a busy leader some time back?

That’s worth exploring.

🌷 A little exciting news from The Fundraising Coach!

I was recently invited by Christian School Products to share some of what I’ve learned about planning and running a successful school fundraiser.

One of my biggest tips? Make the big goal feel small.

A $10,000 goal can feel overwhelming. But break it down into an achievable number of items per participant, and suddenly everyone can see how they can help get there.

I cover that strategy plus choosing the right fundraiser, profit margins, timelines, participation, communication, and more in the full article.

Thanks to Jill Hasty and Christian School Products for the opportunity to share it! 🌷

Planning a fall fundraiser? Dutch Mill Bulbs offers 50% profit, no upfront costs, and no minimums to help groups turn those goals into something achievable.

Every successful fundraiser starts with one simple question.

Surprisingly, it isn't:

"What should we sell?"

The first question I ask every group is:

"What's your fundraising goal?"

If you don't know exactly how much money you need to raise, it's almost impossible to build a plan that gets you there.

A clear goal helps determine how many supporters you need, how many items need to be sold, and what success actually looks like.

Before you choose a fundraiser...

Know your number.

What's the first thing your organization does before launching a fundraiser?
