Two groups. Same flower bulb fundraiser. Very different results.

The first group had 40 members and 12 who actually sold anything. The second had 30 members and 24 who did. The second group raised more, by a wide margin, even though their roster was smaller.

The difference wasn't the product. It was participation.

Here's the thing most leaders don't realize until after a disappointing season:

Before you choose what to sell, you need to answer a harder question, how many people in your group will actually sell it?

Because a great fundraiser with 25% participation will almost always lose to a good fundraiser with 80% participation. Every time.

So before you lock in your fall fundraiser, ask yourself:
→ Does every family understand the goal?
→ Do your sellers have a specific number to hit, not just a vague "do your best"?
→ Have you made it easy to share with people outside the immediate group?

The product gets attention. Participation gets results. 🎯

If you're sorting through your options for this fall and want to talk through what actually moves the needle for your specific group, I'm happy to have that conversation, no pressure, just a practical chat.

Drop a comment or send me a message and we'll figure out what makes sense for your group this season. 🌷

I used to volunteer for fundraisers and leave every single meeting exhausted, not from the work, but from the fog.

Nobody told us what we were raising money for. Nobody said "here's the number, here's the math, here's your part." We just got a box of things to sell and a deadline. So families went through the motions. Leaders burned out. And at the end, we'd tally the results and quietly wonder if it was worth it.

Then someone finally said: "We need new uniforms. Here's what they cost. Here's what each sale earns. Here's how many items each family needs to sell."

That was it. That was the whole shift. 🌷

People showed up differently when they knew the why.

It's the thing I think about most now, running Dutch Mill Bulbs. Every group leader who signs up gets a clear structure from the start, a specific goal, the per-sale math already done, and resources so they're not figuring it out alone.

That same clarity is built into our Pink Ribbon Tulips fundraiser this fall. Simple structure. 50% profit on every sale. No upfront costs. And a partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation that gives the fundraiser a purpose people can feel.

If you've ever run a fundraiser and hit that wall, not because you didn't care, but because nobody gave you a reason to keep going, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

How to hit a $1,500 fundraising goal before you ever make a single ask 🌷

Most leaders guess at a sales target and hope for the best.

There’s a much easier way.

Start with the math.

1️⃣ Your goal: $1,500

2️⃣ Your group earns $7.50 on every $15 item sold because you keep 50% profit.

3️⃣ $1,500 ÷ $7.50 = 200 items

That’s your group’s finish line.

Now divide it by the number of people participating:

👉 20 members = 10 items each
👉 25 members = 8 items each
👉 40 members = just 5 items each

Five.

That could literally be a few family members, neighbors, coworkers, or friends per participant.

And your sellers aren’t limited to one product. Dutch Mill Bulbs has 18 fall fundraising items, including tulips, daffodils, crocus, specialty bulbs and our Pink Ribbon Tulips. 🌷

Your group earns 50% profit on every item sold.

Dutch Mill Bulbs is also proud to be Helping Women Now® with National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.® 🎀

Here’s the part leaders sometimes miss:

The more people who participate, the easier the goal becomes.

When five people carry the entire fundraiser, $1,500 feels enormous.

When 40 people each sell five items?

Suddenly it looks very doable.

This works for scout troops, cheer teams, schools, churches, sports teams, PTOs and community organizations.

No upfront costs.
No minimum sales requirement.
Just a clear goal and simple math.

👇 Drop your fundraising goal AND the number of people in your group in the comments.

I’ll do the math for you and tell you exactly how many items each person would need to sell.

I used to be the one counting order forms at the kitchen table, chasing down payments, and hoping the final number was enough.

That experience is exactly why Dutch Mill Bulbs runs the way it does, 18 items, one price, no minimums, no upfront costs, and a real person who picks up the phone.

If you're carrying a fundraiser right now, I've been you. Let me show you what simple actually looks like. 🌷

40 members on paper. 12 who actually sold anything. Those 12 people carried the whole fundraiser.

Sound familiar? Most groups don't have a product problem. They have a participation problem.

Here's the math that changes everything: a group of 20 people where 18 of them sell five items each will outperform a group of 50 where only eight people ever send a single message. Every time.

Before you pick your fundraiser this fall, ask one question first, what are we doing to get more than half our people to actually participate?

This is exactly why I built our program the way it is. 18 items, one price point, 50% profit on every sale, no upfront costs, no minimums. Fewer decisions for the leader, fewer exit ramps for sellers who are on the fence. 🌷

And this fall, there's something new. Dutch Mill Bulbs is now an official partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.® Our Pink Ribbon Tulips mean every sale supports your group's goal and contributes to the mission of Helping Women Now®, without any extra work on your end.

If you're planning a pink out, a fall fundraiser, or you just need something simple that people will actually want to buy, this is worth a look.

Wondering how a Dutch Mill Bulbs fundraiser actually works?

✅ No upfront cost
✅ Online + brochure sales
✅ 50% profit
✅ Free shipping available on qualifying orders
✅ Fall fundraising through November 15

Simple fundraising. Beautiful products. A process your group can actually manage. 🌷

09/04/2026

Your fundraiser might not have a product problem. It might have a participation problem.

Forty members on the roster. Twelve who actually reached out to anyone. Those twelve are carrying everyone else, and no product in the world fixes that math.

Before you switch fundraisers, check one number:

How many people in your group sold even one item?

If it’s less than half, break the goal into a per-person target at kickoff.

“We need to raise $1,200. That’s 10 items per seller if everyone participates.”

Suddenly the goal feels manageable instead of overwhelming.

Then remind people consistently. Not just at the beginning and end. A quick midpoint update like, “We’re halfway there, here’s what each person still needs,” can make a huge difference.

Simple fundraisers help too. Complexity is one of the biggest reasons people quit before they start.

Dutch Mill Bulbs keeps it straightforward:
🌷 18 products
🌷 One price point
🌷 50% profit on every sale
🌷 No upfront costs
🌷 Leader dashboard, QR code, templates and tally tools

Less friction. More participation. Better results.

How to find the participation gap that's quietly costing your fundraiser

1/ Count your members on paper, that's your ceiling
2/ Count who actually sent one message to one contact last season
3/ Subtract the two numbers, that gap is your real problem, not the product
4/ Pick one person to own recruitment before your fall launch, not after
5/ Set a per-person goal so every seller knows exactly what "enough" looks like

What's the hardest part of getting your group to actually participate, not just sign up? 👇

09/02/2026

Your group needs $2,000. Here's the math, no guessing required.

20 sellers. 13 items each. At 50% profit on every $15 package of flower bulbs, that's $7.50 back to your group per sale.

20 × 13 × $7.50 = $1,950. One or two extra sales and you're there. 🌷

No upfront costs. No minimums. Supporters get quality Holland bulbs with a Grow Guarantee, and every Pink Ribbon Tulip sold also supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation's mission of helping women now.

If you have the goal, Dutch Mill Bulbs Fundraising has the path. Drop a comment or send a message to get started. 🌱
