Gull Cottage Antiques, LLC

Gull Cottage Antiques, LLC Our specialty is American Country Furniture & Accessories 1750-1900 I have been an avid collector since my first antiques purchase at age 12.

I have a museum curator background that has served me well in this career for 40 + years and counting. I have always believed that one does not simply purchase an item but that we also purchase a slice of American history along with each piece. With this in mind I always try to share with the buyer any background information about your purchase. That is what makes collecting so very fascinating to

me. My husband and I specialize in colonial, country and primitive antiques. We offer furniture in original finish, original paint as well as refinished. I do not sell anything I would not accept into my own home. In fact, some pieces are right out of my home! We shop back east, down south, in the mid-west for early country items. HOURS OF OPERATION:

Our seasonal business opens mid-April (Early March if weather permits) through mid-November culminating in our Annual Christmas Open House Sale! April & May hours are weekends from 10-5.
~June through Labor Day we continue our weekend schedule plus most Wed.- Fridays from noon to 5 p.m - by chance. You can always look for me in the gardens. Stop by sometime and drink in our view of the sparkling waters of Lake Huron! We would love to meet you.

Tomorrows is the anniversary of my sweet grandma's birthday! So in memory and honor of her I am posting her photo. She is wearing her favorite striped skirt (red and white) that she wore every Fourth of July! She is seated outside of her father's grocery store where I am positive she was put into service. She would be 128 years old this year! Her wit was legendary - her kindness unending. She is greatly missed.

Making butter are we? Why not modernize and use this hand operated butter churn instead of shaking that precious cream in a jar! We also offer a "cream skimmer" as well. Having proper tools is essential!

Open this weekend May 16-17 from 11 AM to 5 PM.

I remember as a child helping my mother gather dandelion greens for our dinner salad. She always stressed to gather the greens before the yellow flowers bloomed. The greens were much sweeter if gathered early. The weather is finally warmer now and more conducive to making a salad not quite so bitter. Enjoy the warm (at last) weather! Come up to the Thumb and explore. Our colors are bursting! (Photo taken by me at Old Sturbridge Village many years ago.)

ORIGINAL ADVERTISING OF PETER RABBIT IS NOW SOLD!! OFF TO A TERRIFIC HOME!

Open today: 11 am to 5 pm. Closed for Mother's Day.

We are now selling a small selection of "Banned Books". Books for little ones include Peter Rabbit, Pippi Longstockkings, Dr. Zeuss, The Littles series, -- a few Harry Potter, etc. Some are gently used, more are books returned to the printer after the ban went into effect at schools. If you aren't interested - fine. Having been an English major in college I do not believe in widespread "bans". Books are sacred. Please allow everyone to chose for themselves.

We have a nice selection of Victorian Art Glass c. 1870-1900 to offer collectors.. There are a few pieces of illusive "Custard Glass" (top shelf- L - edged in gold), Hobnail glass: the blue water pitcher (second shelf), overshot glass rolled in crushed glass shards prior to cooling c. 1870 (second shelf second from L with blue ruffled top), Cranberry glass c. 1870-80 from Sturbridge, England, and American Carnival Glass in the ever popular Marigold color. I also have Vaseline glass. I do apologize for the quality (or lack thereof) of my photo.
Open Sat. - Sun. 11 AM to 5 PM. Come up to the Thumb and do some exploring! The lake is dazzling!
