I am so close to finishing my hat from the Falling Leaves cast on party. I did discover, after tinking many a row, that it is much easier to do stranded knitting on double points if you work with five needles instead of four. At least it is for me.

The Mid-South Music Festival is one week away, running Friday, October 16, through Saturday, October 17. Totally forgot to post this yesterday. Here is the completely finished scarf from the ✨Shop Sample Spotlight✨ made with Fiji by Queensland. It blocked out to about twice the length of what it was pre-blocked. I think if I were going to do one for myself, I would probably use two skeins. I would’ve liked it to be a little bit wider. Two skeins would make a nice sized scarf and probably leave enough leftover for matching fingerless mitts.

On an unrelated note, if you don’t have the knit blockers and you block things frequently, you really need to get a set. Those things are not only a time saver, they are a back saver.

✨Shop Sample Spotlight✨ update. I have finished! It got detailed couple of days because I hurt my finger and couldn’t knit, but I finally got it done. This is the before blocking picture; I will post the after blocking tomorrow or Thursday.

One thing I love about this yarn and pattern is how in addition to having a striping effect, it also has almost a gradient effect. It goes from these muted tones at the bottom to bright, vibrant tones at the top. I have really enjoyed seeing how the colors have played out.

Fiji is 25% off the rest of this week.

This isn’t a ✨Shop Sample Spotlight✨ update, but I will have the completed scarf done next week and will post it Tuesday or Wednesday. That means next week will be the last week Fiji will be on sale for 25% off.

The pattern I’m using calls for slipping the first stitch of each row, which is supposed to give a clean edge. I never really bought into that, because it just seemed like it never really worked. However, I decided to follow pattern instructions. Maybe I was doing it wrong before, but it is working with this project. There are parts where it isn’t super pretty, but I suspect a lot of that will block out. I am now a slip-the-first-stitch convert.
