Seeing water leaking from your freezer is not a good moment for any homeowner.

Not only are you dealing with a mess, but the potential loss of so much money and food.

This was the sight we were met with this afternoon, thankfully we found Mr.Todd Shepherd of Shepherd Appliance Services, his pricing was very reasonable and he was able to see us the same day (without extra charge) , getting the freezer back up and going in no time at all.

So while we very much hope that you don't find yourself with appliances that are not working if you're in the Ark City or Winfield area, we would highly recommend him to you.

The ladies from The Good Finch (Ms. Mel, Bella and Ms. Mel's Mom) are off to the Burford Theatre Arts this week teaching classes and helping out.

They have all been so busy getting things around and prepared for this week, we just know everyone is going to have the best time!

We have a great response to our Arts Camp this year and could use some volunteers to help us make the days’ schedules move freely and effortlessly. We are super excited to serve our area kids and have some amazing things planned. Please let Teressa know if your schedule will allow you to help us the week of June 1-5 from 9am to 3pm. If you followed along with Ms. Mel's greenhouse build or if you or one of your kids attended her class last summer at the Burford Theatre Arts, you'll know that she loves to help people explore their creativity, in ways that are low to no cost.

Instead of spending money think of ways to recycle, repurpose and reuse items to bring that creative vision to life.

So ask yourself when does trash become trash?

It's the Memorial Day weekend which always feels like the offical start to summer: pools open, everyone's out of school, traveling to family events to see one another and remember those who have passed, it just feels like summer arrives this time of year.

Yesterday our community here in Arkansas City opened the splash pad and the joy is evident.

If ever there was a look of pure unadulterated summer time fun, this would be it!

We're not sure who this young lady belongs to, or who to credit with this picture (we just saw it shared online in regards to the event) but may we all be so lucky as to have the kind of weekend and summer that she's already enjoying!

Well if you haven't already heard, our ladies shop hop was a huge success.

It was a night full of food, laughter and some impromptu singing along. A big thank you to every lady that decided to join us and make that night something special.

There is no way we could try to list out everything that everyone did to help make that night a success, Adelphi Ceramics LLC, Brittany Dunlap, Rhonda Jordan And Tallgrass & Wildflowers we simply couldn't have done it without each of you.

Since the event we've heard from so many ladies, many who were sad that they missed the event (we sold out in just over a week) and really hoped we would do it again. It's a testament to how wonderful the night was that so many of you are asking when the next event will be.

We are pleased to tell you all that ...

WE WILL BE BACK!

While we won't give you details yet we're already making plans and coming up with what we hope will be another fantastically fun time for everyone.

Anyone else old enough to remember when the TV would go away? First time I experienced it I thought the TV was broken.

My parents explained that at the end of the broadcast day, the national anthem would play and then no more TV, just one of the test pattern screens until broadcasting resumed in the morning.

So many of you will never know the thrill of hearing that "pop" sound as the audio signal was restored and that screen would fade away and in would swoop your Saturday morning cartoons.

By the late 1980s with the rise of cable and satellite TV, 24 hour broadcasting would be standard and we would enter the era of the late night "infomercial" ... Ginsu knives, free gifts, Ron Popeil and so many magical things you could own for 3 easy payments of $19.95 ...

But wait there's more!
