This Victorian-era house had an old back staircase (for the staff?) that made for an awkward kitchen layout (too many doors!). Once the stairs were removed, the owners had space for a cozy nook upstairs and kitchen built-ins downstairs.

Do you know what this is? This is a new set of stairs to an attic. An attic that could previously only be reached by pull-down ladder. I did the math to make these stairs work and be up to code (and not clip the corner of a window. And still allow for a useable bedroom). It worked on paper and it WORKED IN REAL LIFE.
