As we embark on our fifth year in practice, we’re reflecting on how far we’ve come and where we’re headed next. Over the past four years, each project, partnership, and team member has helped shape Whitsitt IA into the firm we are today—a firm that brings clarity through complexity, is guided by experience, and acts as an advisor in both practice and partnership.

The momentum we’ve built reflects both the people behind our work and the clients who trust us to bring clarity to their complex design decisions.

As we approach our five-year milestone, we’re refining our brand to reflect that evolution. In the year ahead, we’ll introduce a refreshed website experience that better reflects our culture, showcases our work and expertise, and signals where we’re headed next.

Construction of Venture X Downtown Columbia, SC, is officially wrapped up just in time for the holidays!

Congratulations to the owners, Kimberly & Jason Rickman, on opening their first Venture X location and to Landmark Builders, Inc. on delivering a successful project—18 floors up! It’s always rewarding to see a space come to life, especially when it’s decked to the nines and ready to welcome members during the most festive time of year.

Venture X Downtown Columbia, SC, will be ringing in the new year with a Grand Opening celebration on January 14th. Congratulations to everyone involved in completing this stunning project!

Last Thursday, our team got into the holiday spirit by giving back. 🎁✨

We got a list (and checked it twice!) of the most-needed gifts for Second Story’s Holiday Gift Drive. Each team member hand-picked presents inspired by their favorite things. Together, we filled our sleigh with toys, books, art supplies, craft kits, sports equipment, and more — all donated to Second Story, a nonprofit supporting children, teens, young mothers, and families experiencing crisis or homelessness across Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. region.

We’re grateful for Second Story’s mission and the opportunity to spread joy this holiday season.

What an incredible Canstruction DC 2025! 🎉
On November 23rd, our team at Whitsitt Interiors + Architecture, together with our amazing partners at TEEL Construction, Inc., brought The Sphere Las Vegas to life—canstructed entirely from 3,586 cans of fruit and completed in just 2.5 hours! 🍊🍒🍐

We’re thrilled to share that our build received an Honorable Mention: Best Minimalist Design! 🏆

A huge THANK YOU to Canstruction DC, the National Building Museum, and the District Architecture Center for hosting such a fantastic event. And an extra special thank you to TEEL Construction, Inc.—your partnership, teamwork, and enthusiasm made this opportunity to give back truly unforgettable.

Most importantly, we’re proud to support the Capital Area Food Bank, alongside so many talented teams who built, donated, and rallied together to raise hunger awareness for the D.C. region.

To everyone who visited, volunteered, donated, and spread the word: thank you. Your support helps provide meals to families who need it most.

Join us at the National Building Museum this Sunday as we team up with TEEL Construction, Inc. to compete in this year’s Canstruction DC. Over the course of just six hours, we’ll bring The Sphere Las Vegas to life using nothing but cans!

Standing 6 feet tall and 8 feet in diameter, our version of The Sphere (complete with Orbi’s animated face) will be built from 3,586 cans of fruit that together create an on-theme meal: a fruit cocktail. Every can used in our build and every can donated to vote for your favorite structure will go directly to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Whitsitt Interiors + Architecture is proud to partner with TEEL Construction, Inc. for this year’s Canstruction DC — a design-build competition organized by the District Architecture Center where design and construction professionals join forces to raise hunger awareness one can at a time. 🥫

Each year, teams create large-scale structures made entirely from canned goods at the National Building Museum, which are later donated to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Teams compete across several categories:
1️⃣ Best Original Design
2️⃣ Best Meal (created from the cans used in our build)
3️⃣ Best Use of Labels
4️⃣ Structural Ingenuity
5️⃣ Most Cans
6️⃣ People’s Choice Award — where visitors “vote” for their favorite project by donating:
1 can = 1 vote / $1 = 1 vote

This year’s theme, World Architecture, challenges each team to reimagine iconic structures from around the world using cans as their building blocks.

CAN you guess which world-famous landmark our can-tastic design represents? 🤔 Hint: it’s known for its animated displays and eye-catching glow in Las Vegas! ✨

Wrapping up construction this month, this 15,800-square-foot, rarefied destination offers unparalleled 360° views of South Carolina's capital city from the penthouse level of the iconic 1901 Main Street building.

Members and guests will be welcomed by an opulent elevator lobby that leads to a speakeasy-inspired reception and café, along with an event space, library-esque lounge, coworking area, conference rooms, and private phone rooms—all distinguished by vintage finishes, furnishings, and décor.
