Hey there!
In case you wondered who is roasting your coffee and making the random assortment of crafty things for you to purchase, I will satisfy your curiosity.
My name is Charity Schuman. I work full-time as a realtor, but in my spare time I’m pretty much always busy with my numerous hobbies. Roasting coffee, painting, lots of reading, learning to bake, trying my best to keep my goldfish alive, and hunting and fishing with my husband.
When I was a young teenager the seeds for my love of coffee were planted. It was on one of my visits to my grandmas house, while her brother was there visiting from out of state. We were sitting in the kitchen chatting and having coffee, when I sat down with my coffee cup full of cream and sugar. My great-uncle looked at me and said “you’re not drinking real coffee unless you’re drinking it black” so of course, in an effort to impress my great-uncle, I dumped what was in my coffee cup and refilled it with just plain coffee. Let me just say, it was disgusting. But I was not about to give up. From then on I kept trying black coffee, until eventually it was bearable. I still never really enjoyed it unless there was plenty of cream and sugar to mask the bitterness. Fast forward several years later. At a get together with some of my friends, our host offered us coffee that he had roasted. He proceeded to tell us how much better it tasted then store bought coffee and encouraged us to try it plain before adding anything to it. As you can imagine, I was skeptical. But I tried it plain anyway. That coffee hit my taste buds and a whole new world of flavor opened up to me! Not long after, I bought some green coffee beans and roasted them in an air popper for popcorn. The coffee was fantastic! So I bought a real coffee roaster. Friends and family kept encouraging me to sell my coffee, so I gave it a go. My husband, who is my biggest encourager in all my hobbies, started roasting coffee with me and enjoys it as much as I do. We find a lot of enjoyment in the process of roasting coffee, but even more, we enjoy seeing people love our coffee. So give it a try. You might be glad you did!
