Swipe to the end for a new design 🥰

Spent this past week down south in Newport for Water Safety Training and I noticed all of the little things that remind me why I love this job so much.

The trainees, fresh faced and filled with anticipation, always have a way of making me fall back in love with this job. It’s my 12th year with the program and my 6th year being a trainer. I don’t get to go down as much due to my priorities with ōSHen Knits & Fibres but it still gives me a new sense of purpose every time I do.

Last photo is a new design … another hoody… are we surprised? But this sample is the start of a very awesome collaboration that I can’t wait to share more about.

I can’t wait to start our next chapter of ōSHen with you all that truly takes things back to the core of this brand

✨Second Sample for the Mt. Hoody✨

I love this sample so much but realised that with this weight of yarn (Aran instead of Chunky like first sample) I should have dropped down in needle size. The drape is beautiful but the wind cuts right through it not making it as warm as I would have liked for our PNW weather.

This sample is knit in Ito on 8mm needles

As I finish up my third sample for the Mt. Hoody, I thought it would be fun to show off the first sample I did for this design.

This sample uses Alpachino Merino by and is so cozy. I need to add more length to the body but was obsessed with how the sleeves turned out. Not sure if I should add this to the pattern but bave gone a different direction with the sleeves on my current 3rd samples which I feel is more hoody like.

I didn’t share much about my trip back home to Ireland back in November and posting these photos gives me the urge to book another flight. The photos of sample knit were taken on the beach right by my parent’s house and it looks like a different planet.

I will be looking for test knitters once the ōSHen Bubbles Vest test knit is complete!

Third year and I think I really out did myself this year. I leaned in hard to theme and this is definitely my favorite collection!!!! It is truly my exact aesthetic and I can see how much I have grown as a yarn dyer with these colorways 🥲

After a ridiculous amount of requests, we have put the “F**k I.C.E.” Demon’s Ink up on our website.

All profits will be donated to a local non-profit organization that aids youth and their families through economic empowerment, community self-determination and cultural appreciation. The founding members have been working with Latino immigrant communities since 1992 and officially became the only non-profit organ in our area providing services in Spanish to Latinx community members. If you would like to learn more please visit their instagram page and/or website.

We are open to our local fiber community today and encourage all of you to participate in the black out if possible. 10am to 3pm - our shades will be down but please come on in!

Come hang in our community living space, make yourself some yummy free coffee and tea, munch on some snacks and cast on your ‘Melt the Ice Hat’.

The shop is providing free red yarn with proof of purchase of knit or crochet version. Check out for more information.

We also encourage you to try and do more than just knit a red beanie if you’re able. Research how you can help your local immigrant communities, call your representatives, do your due diligence and know your legal rights with 🧊, participate in your local protest, repost, reshare content on social media. Nothing is too small!!
