While we love the design aspect of our work, it is hearing these stories and working with you to make those stories come to life that makes our work so rewarding.

We've always prided ourselves on helping you find the perfect design - something that calls attention to your art from a distance but makes the ART stand out when someone comes up close. We've mastered the art of transforming an image on paper (or canvas) that you love into something on your wall that EVERYONE can appreciate.

That process can't be done well in a virtual setting. It MUST be done one-on-one, which is why we are continuing to operate with design appointments in person from our home.

We have all the old records of past work (going back to 1995). We still have the full selection of matboard and frames to choose from. And our design process - helping you find the perfect mix of color, texture, shape and scale to match your art and home - hasn't changed either.

In December we sold out almost all of our retail inventory so we could close the storefront on El Camino Real. We hope you were able to participate in some of the incredible savings.

The process of clearing our inventory and closing the retail store on El Camino Real was bittersweet but it was time to end that part of what Accents has done for almost 28 years.

CUSTOM PICTURE FRAMING

The pretty retail may be gone but we continue to offer Custom Picture Framing Services by Appointment. We understand that you still have picture framing projects. We've made sure you still have an option in the North County to get that done.

You Treasure a Picture Because You Appreciate It. We STILL Frame it so Everyone Else Can.

Design appointments will be a mix of virtual and in person at our personal residence. We have all the old records of past work (going back 25 years). We still have the full selection of matboard and frames to choose from. It is with great sadness that we must share with you that Accents will be closing our doors for good at the end of this year. It was a good run - 45 years in business serving Atascadero, almost 28 years of that with John & Allyson as the owners - but all good things must eventually come to an end.

The 2020 Opportunity

The ways of home, life & business are changing due to COVID-19. It's easy to see the challenges but there are also opportunities. Accents has only just opened up after more than 8 weeks of state-mandated closure. We look forward to the opportunity to see you in the store, again - supporting local business and finding some new decor ideas to make your house a home.

But there is a bigger opportunity here!

How people shop and spend both their time and money is different. Priorities have shifted. How a small business like ours works to serve you must also change for us (you the customer and Accents the business) to thrive.

We see this as an even bigger opportunity than what we saw 27 years ago when we bought "The Frame Shoppe" from Harry & Mitzi Sackrider ... BUT ... We also believe that someone else would be much better suited to embrace that opportunity than we are.

This is a great time for some new ideas ... and new energy ...

YOU or someone you know is likely to be the perfect person to provide them.

Allyson & John Buerger have owned Accents since 1993. When we bought the business, Allyson was pregnant with our first child. We were the third owners, and the business had already served Atascadero for almost two decades.

Allyson's vision has deteriorated significantly in the past several years - you've probably met her guide dog, Olga - and that vision loss has taken its toll on her ability to contribute to the experience we want our customers to have.

We have decided that the best future for Accents and its customers starts with finding the 4th owners for the store. We also feel the BEST owner for this business would be local and someone able to embrace and celebrate our wonderful history.

This search is starting with you.

You know how Accents has helped you ... and you probably know somebody (maybe even you) who would be the perfect next owner of a local icon. We're just a few short years from our 50th anniversary and we are motivated to make the transition to a new team work for everyone involved.
