Brr! Be sure to stay warm! Our bent steel firewood holder will definitely see some action this weekend.

Our doors are open! (Figuratively…it is still February.) Our annual break has come to an end, and we are so excited to be back in the shop! I hope to see both many familiar and new faces this year. Shop hours are Thursday - Saturday from 11a - 4p. Can’t make it those days? Just email or call us, we’re happy to find a time to meet with you outside of our store hours.

When you want to make a finished piece as full of character and unique as your customer, you need a strong attention to detail. It makes looking at furniture up-close a lot of fun. I’m particularly fond of this swinging steel door and cut-out handle.

Warmth, comfort, relaxation...this is what makes up cozy. Although I enter January armed with plans for the new year, I’m honestly still recovering from the Holiday hustle. That's why I push myself to embrace January as a time to get reacquainted with myself, my home, and a little down time. Read our blog (link in bio) if you need a little cozy inspiration too.

Cool weather outside forces us to slow down and retreat to the habits that bring us comfort…like curling up on the sofa with a good book and fuzzy friends. STEEL + PLANK is a thoughtful, sustainable, handcrafted furnishings and homegoods store in Athens, Georgia. Kelley Bishop, owner and designer of STEEL + PLANK furnishings, takes special care to curate a space full of the work of other intentional makers. The complimentary wares highlight one another and upon walking into the store, you feel instantly calm and at home.

Kelley has practiced architecture for over 20 years and is a partner of STUDIO.BNA architecture firm, where the philosophy: ‘to be a good architect one should know how to build’ guides their work. The firm’s tandem fabrication studio Very Dark Grey enables them to build both entire structures or custom pieces with a special focus.

Kelley brings the ideologies of STUDIO.BNA to her handcrafted, simple furniture designs you see at STEEL + PLANK. True to the materials of steel and wood, her furnishings are contemporary with clean lines.

The artists and makers of art, soft goods, housewares and lighting featured both online and in-store are selected for their adherence to the STEEL + PLANK values: quality, sustainable craftsmanship, and understated timeless beauty.
