This is for you, the Beautiful Cultured Homebody…
A little joy on a Monday night.
A soft groove.
A reminder that love doesn’t always arrive heavy; sometimes it shows up laughing, freestyling, dancing in the doorway like Mos Def on a good day.
Because after the shadow work… after the battle work… comes the soft work, the work that lets joy back in.
And when you love yourself, you can finally love others.
And when you love others, you remember why you make your home beautiful, not for them to see.
For them to feel.

Some wounds weren’t ours to begin with,
we just learned to repeat the story
because someone else handed us the hurt.

And for a long time,
we replayed their betrayal
as if remembering the moment
could keep us safe from it happening again.

But mirrors don’t lie.
They show the truth we’ve avoided,
that healing begins the moment
we stop rehearsing the pain
and start reclaiming the parts of ourselves
we hid to survive.

For the Cultured Homebody,
this is where the room steps in,
a piece of art that whispers a new story,
a color that softens the memory,
a visual reminder that you are no longer
who the wound tried to make you.

The home becomes the first place
where the old narrative finally loses its power.

Some of us carried beauty like a wound before we ever carried it like a gift.

But even the tender places learn to bloom again,

especially under a Scorpio moon.

Where healing turns into transformation and softness becomes power.

For the Cultured Homebody, this is where sanctuary begins,

a candle lit low, incense drifting through the quiet, fresh flowers softening the room.

Tiny rituals that turn a home into a retreat, a reset, a place where the body finally exhales;

and the lies you’ve been telling yourself fade away.

Come back tomorrow, as another story unfolds….

We left the door open!

Prestige is never noise.
It’s vibration.
Colman Domingo, the hydrangea, and my lens met in one sacred rhythm.

No competition, just three energies whispering:

“I’m here… let’s show out…because the SUN and BEAUTY wait for no one” - August Day, The Design Oracle 🌿🖤

When my eye meets an object in nature,
something ancient aligns.
We fall into one rhythm
the land, the carving, and the gaze that finds them. 🌿🖤

She always belonged to the Earth.
The bell knew it.
The book knew it.
And even the little guardian in the corner agreed.
Beautiful things were never born for a landfill.
We honor the energy they carry, that’s why we photograph in nature.
In this way, we honor their presence and Mother Earth in a sacred way.
Every piece we reclaim is part of our rhythm.
It’s part of our DNA.
Because in this House, everything is connected.

Some things are born in the dark. Not from fear, from intention.

I was born from a flame.

A small one… lit by steady hands that knew loss, knew rebuilding, knew how to make something sacred out of what survived.

This House wasn’t constructed. It was summoned.

From ancestral memory.

From inconvenient love that still shows up.

From a perfectionist who finally surrendered to beauty’s timing.

And from a mother and daughter who decided - together - that it was time.

I am August Day.
The Design Oracle.

And this is the House of Afro Boho.

Come on in, luv, we left the door open.
The candle is lit.
We’ve been expecting you.
