Elizabeth Cash Green was born on June 2, 1862, in Midland, Georgia. She was the last survivor of slavery in America. She died on February 20, 1975, at the age of 112 in DeKalb County, Arkansas.

Green’s life spanned Reconstruction, the turn of the 20th century, World War I, the Elaine Massacre, the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927, the Great Depression, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Civil Rights Movement. Her image can be found at pbcommercial.com.

Peter Mills (1861–1972) of Maryland lived to be 110 and died after a pedestrian accident.

But Iyanla is back on TV. She’s returned to the Oprah Winfrey Network with “Iyanla: The Inside Fix.” blackenterprise.com reports the show premiered January 17, 2026, on OWN. Somehow, I missed the memo, but I am dialed in now: it airs every Saturday at 8 PM in a prime spot with new specials in production, which means it has got to be good.

Walt “Clyde” Frazier was the smooth, unshakeable floor general of the Knicks’ golden era, a defensive genius and style icon whose leadership helped carry New York to both of its NBA championships alongside the brilliant Earl “The Pearl” Monroe. Their greatness is reflected in every page of Knicks history.

Today, we celebrate living legends Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe, while honoring the memory of the incomparable Willis Reed, who passed on March 21, 2023, but remains forever at the heart of New York basketball.

Remarkably, this rare magazine was published 15 months after the Knicks won their first championship in 1970 and 9 months before they captured their second title in 1973. Just holding this magazine in our hands has got to be the mojo that will bring the trophy back home this year.

Robert Peabo Bryson embraced collaboration. To us, it always felt like he loved the conversation inside a song, the way two perspectives could braid together and tell a fuller truth.

And then there’s that voice, warm, controlled, generous. Peabo had a rare gift: he could wrap his tone around a partner’s voice without ever overshadowing them. That balance, that respect, I think, is why he became the go‑to voice for duet albums long before the industry realized how powerful that format could be.

Over the course of a remarkable career, he won two Grammy Awards — in 1992 for “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion, and in 1993 for “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle. Mr. Bryson passed away on June 2 at the age of 75.

On National Bike Day, we honor Billie Joe Becoat, a brilliant Black inventor whose
In the early 1990s, Becoat patented a groundbreaking dual‑wheel‑drive bicycle system that used a flexible drive shaft to power both wheels. His design improved traction, stability, and control on rough terrain, the first visionary step forward in 70 years of bike engineering.

P.S. Becoat recorded an album titled Reflections from a Cracked Mirror, which was released in 1969 on Fantasy Records and reviewed in Billboard. The Album is considered a collector’s item today.
