I know I have been super absent on here... even after promising to show up more 😅 but let’s be REAL Instagram is hard for me sometimes. It’s so easy to get caught up in constant comparison, and trying to have a perfectly curated feed. But really that’s not what I’m about and that’s not why I do flowers 🤷🏼‍♀️ so sorry if this doesn’t quite fit the color scheme I had going on or if this caption sucks 😂🙈 I just wanted to share something pretty without stressing about it forever

I know I’m a day late but I wanted to share about my amazing mom❤️ She is the strongest women I know, and no matter what curveballs life throws her she overcomes them with grace. Thank you mom for everything you have taught me, including the value of hard work and loving unconditionally.

The word that keep circling in my brain today is balance. It is my survival word. Balance. It is my gentle reminder to slow down. Balance. The word that steadies me amidst the chaos of life. Balance.

A question I get a lot is “how do I do it all?” And the truth is I don’t 🤷🏻‍♀️. When I have a busy flower week my kids eat take out, laundry is left in baskets, and dishes pile up in the sink. Other weeks we don’t do any flowers and the kids get tons of snuggles and books read to them, I build shelves, have all my meal planning and grocery shopping done by Saturday night👊🏽 Life is a balance of both. And accepting that I can’t be 100% on everything all the time is soo important to my mental health. Often times it is easy to see only the things people are on top of and feel as if we don’t have s**z together. So my reminder to you all today is balance ❤️ love your perfect and imperfect days.

Happy New Year!!! (It’s 12am somewhere right😜)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This year brought some major HIGHS, namely having the cutest baby, participating in the coolest shoots, getting a new car, driving across country to Georgia, and being a part of some seriously gorgeous weddings!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It also had some major LOWS. I lost two very loved uncles to Covid, watched my business struggle as many wedding canceled or postponed, “homeschooled” a kindergartener, and worked through some depression and anxiety struggles within my family.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It would be a lie to say I am not very much looking forward to a New Year. However I also am grateful for the happiness, knowledge and inner strength that this year has given me and I’m excited to see what next year will bring 🥂

Why I Flower

Fun fact about me, I have a bachelor degree in social work. Not exactly floral design; people often ask me why I became a florist, or even how I became a florist. Although my answer is always multifaceted , the short and sweet version is that I have just always loved flowers! When I was five, I remember going on walks to collect wild flowers, which I would then press and make into bookmarks. At the age of nine in an attempt to be more apart of my Polynesian heritage, I started making (trying to make) haku and traditional leis from any and all the flowers growing in my backyard. In high school, I was able to take an actual floral design class and put more method to my madness. Once I got to college, though I still loved flowers, and actually worked with a wedding planner, I was all about changing the world and wasn't sure I could do that as a florist (hence the degree in social work).

Quite a bit of time has past since then, and I have learned quite a bit about myself, the world, and flowers. I have learned I am one of those empathetic people who wants to take your problems and make them mine. I have learned that without even meaning to flowers are what I use to fix/ heal things. And finally, I have learned there is a place for me in this world and what I do does make a difference! (maybe just not the one I originally set out to make).

Currently, my love for flowering comes from creating and designing with a purpose. Tailoring each bouquet or arrangement to the beautiful people they are intended for. as morbid or weird as it might sound, nothing beats being a part of someones big wedding day, or designing a casket spray for their last. I love the people I get to meet, the flowers I get to know, and the chance I get as an artist to create.

Do you get to do what you love?
