Well…we were supposed to be hanging curtains. 😂

But one design decision led to another, and before we knew it, we had new paint, architectural molding, a fireplace makeover, new lighting, a bigger rug and even a TV problem we definitely didn't plan for.

What do you do when your two-story family room has 17-foot ceilings, oversized windows, and still feels unfinished? You start with the windows…and apparently end up renovating the whole room. 😂

Welcome to Design Diaries: The Vision, Part 1 of my real-life family room transformation with Southern Girl Interiors.

For years, our family room had white walls and two beautiful but completely bare two-story windows flanking the fireplace. The room wasn't bad. It just never felt finished.

When the opportunity came to collaborate with TWOPAGES, I finally had the push I needed to give this space its own personality.

In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of the design process...from the original vision and measuring our nearly 17-foot windows to selecting a timeless linen-blend fabric and figuring out how to make window treatments work with the scale and architecture of a two-story room.

And as you'll see throughout this Design Diaries series, what started as “Let's finally hang some curtains” quickly became something much bigger.
Because apparently…we couldn't just hang curtains.
