What do you do when your 10 year old aspiring chef asks for the basement kitchen? You "give" it to him and even help him paint the cabinets blue. All of my sons are pretty convincing and in this case my middle son was unrelenting. Once we agreed to let him use this space he went on to ask for kitchen supplies for his birthday and Christmas to ensure he had everything he needed down here. He has a knife set, safety gloves, utensils, plates, pots, pans, a griddle, and even an ice cream machine (his ice cream making is why I am not losing any weight). This is truly his space, although he does allow his older brother to use it too... unfortunately he is currently banned for not properly cleaning up 😩. My baby does not play about his kitchen! I am going to start sharing some of the food he cooks down here!

The game room is in place and the boys (including the big one: my husband) love this space! When my dad told me he was planning to get the boys an indoor basketball game, it was clear that the old game room space was no longer going to work. So I changed it! This room is multipurpose for sure as it serves as both a game room and houses the boys' music corner but so far it works very well for us right now. What do you think of this space? What would you change or do differently?

I miss my greenhouse but I think I found a good HOA-friendly option! Isn't she cute? And so far she's pretty tough... she's made it through a couple of storms without issue. Now I need to actually start some seeds 😩. What do you think about my new mini greenhouse?

Am I the only one who didn't know you could fight the summer slide just by setting up your house this way? 📚

This is our mini library — and it's not just a cute corner. Every book is at their level, physically and academically, and I rotate them seasonally so it always feels fresh.

When kids can see and access books on their own terms? They read more. No forcing. No worksheets. Just access.
