It’s been a busy week for us, between sawmill orders, dealing with farm life, and harvesting a giant dying walnut tree. Milled some rafters and siding out of customer supplied poplar logs, took care of the cattle, and got a total of five logs out a walnut tree that had to come down. Three of the logs are 13 feet long and over 20 inches in diameter!

This week we slabbed out a ginormous cedar log with some of the slabs being over 26 inches in width. And at 3 inches thick and 12 feet long they were not fun to stack. We ended the week with milling up 1x10x12’s out of customer provided logs. Had a close shave with a rock embedded in a log today and also had an audience while milling.

There might be a little dust on the bottle but don’t let it fool ya about what’s inside.

This week we slabbed out a mighty pecan log and quite frankly we weren’t sure what we would get out of it. One end was badly cracked and looked to go fairly deep into the log. Little did we know the beauty the log was hiding inside!

We also loaded one of the kilns with a mix of hardwoods (oak, hickory, sycamore) and milled up some nice 4/4 white oak boards from a customer’s log.

The last couple of weeks have busy at the farm, we have milled up some 2x11x12’s in red oak, got some nice quarter sawn sycamore boards, and been working on some gorgeous kiln dried white oak slabs. Urban Lumber Furnishings is here for all your custom sawing needs!

This week we finished up an order of fence and face boards, milled some mystery logs into cants and found Red Oak, Poplar, and spalted Sycamore, and spent Friday planing some gorgeous 4/4 Hickory boards. Keep Urban Lumber Furnishings in mind for all of your rough sawn lumber and woodworking needs!

And another one gone and another one gone, another barn order bites the dust. Over the last few weeks we have milled up around 10,000 bdft of lumber, all at 16-18 feet in length. This included 1x siding at 3, 6, 8, and 10 inch widths as well as 2x4’s, 2x6’s, 4x6’s, and even 8x10 posts! Matt has been putting the finishing touches on this gorgeous hickory table and we can’t wait to show you the finished product. If you live in middle GA Jake Dean is a great guy and an amazing sawyer.

We are getting close to Easter. I am offering 3 1x4x12 pine boards to each family, for free. This will allow you to build a cross from each board. It’s been a busy week for us here at Urban Lumber Furnishings. Mike and I have been working on another barn build with every piece of lumber being 16-18 feet long. Also milled up some nice axe boards for another customer. Matt has been busy in the shop with a table rebuild and making planters. The table started its life as an adjustable table with a leaf. Matt added a cherry centerpiece and it is not a permanent six foot table. Planting season is coming soon and now is the time to start thinking about any outdoor projects and where you can get the lumber from. We’re here and happy to help.
