🔥 Feisty Spices Fall-Off-the-Bone Oxtails
Serves: 4–6 | Cook time: about 3–3½ hours
Ingredients
* 3 lbs beef oxtails
* 2½–3 tbsp Feisty Spices Oxtail Seasoning
* 1 tbsp oil
* 1 medium onion, sliced
* ½ green bell pepper, chopped
* ½ red bell pepper, chopped
* 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 2 scallions, chopped
* 1 tbsp tomato paste
* 1 tbsp browning sauce, optional for deeper color
* 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
* 2½ cups beef broth
* 1 tsp fresh thyme or ½ tsp dried thyme
* 1 can (15 oz) butter beans, drained
* 1 tbsp brown sugar, optional
* 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp cold water, if needed to thicken
* Cooked rice for serving
Directions
1. Season those oxtails. Pat the oxtails dry and generously coat them with Feisty Spices Oxtail Seasoning. For even deeper flavor, refrigerate for 1–4 hours, but you can cook them immediately.
2. Get a good sear. Heat oil in a heavy pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the oxtails well on all sides, then remove them from the pot.
3. Build the gravy. Add onion, bell peppers, garlic and scallions. Sauté for 3–4 minutes. Stir in the tomato paste and cook another minute.
4. Bring the flavor. Add browning sauce, Worcestershire, beef broth, thyme and brown sugar. Stir well, scraping all those flavorful browned bits from the bottom.
5. Low and slow. Return the oxtails to the pot. The liquid should come most of the way up the meat. Cover and simmer on LOW for 2½–3 hours, turning occasionally, until the oxtails are fork-tender.
6. Add the butter beans. Stir them in during the final 20–30 minutes.
7. Make that gravy glossy. Remove the lid and simmer until the sauce reduces into a rich gravy. If you want it thicker, stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer for another 2–3 minutes.
8. Serve it up. Spoon the oxtails and plenty of gravy over hot rice. Finish with chopped scallions or parsley.
🌶️ Feisty Tip
Don’t rush the browning step. That deep sear + Feisty Spices Oxtail Seasoning + slow cooking is what gives you that dark, rich gravy that looks incredible on camera.
For TikTok, hit the finished oxtails with a spoonful of gravy right before filming so they’re shiny, saucy and disrespectfully delicious. 😏🔥
