Hello friends, we're on the cusp of something amazing! Though as Fringe Worthy Studio & Boutique packs up the shop it is bittersweet.🥲

Sorry for the inconvenience friends, we've been battling Flu B this week 🤒 . Maddie & I spent Tuesday night in Hasbro ER. She was diagnosed w Viral Myositis, as the on call Pediatrician suspected and suggested to be seen right away and not to wait till morning. Sharing this bit bc most have never heard of Viral Myositis, including myslef until google.

Mom's always follow your instinct. Gramma & I knew something wasn't right. After being sick with a fever, cough, congestion for 4 days Maddie began complaining of her legs/calves hurting. Until hurting her so bad she was in tears trying to walk on tippy toes. Now if you know Maddie's story, you know this tiny kid is fierce and has endured more than most. So I was paying attention. She was hydrated, so this didn't add up.

Fastforward thru over 2hrs wait in the ER. They ran a blood panel checking her creatine kinase (CK) levels , flu, covid, Strep, & xray check for pneumonia. She was clear on all but pos for Flu B & CK levels over 1000 = (myositis)

Viral Myositis is most commonly triggered by Flu B. The scary, urgent thing about Viral Myositis, is it can cause kidney damage. The virus attacks the muscle sending myoglobin to pas thru the kidneys. The kidneys don't like that. Glad to say we caught it, after IV, rest and more fluids Maddie is walking with much less pain. She can't wait to get back to soccer & softball! ⚽️ ⚾️
Who would've thought April is still Flu season?! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you to my Mom Liz Proulx & sister Kate Laubinger Crosby for holding down the shop so I could be home with my sick girls. They're on the mend 😌.
