Please read this post its entirety as there are two separate portions of the Lewiston Road Widening Projects taking place this week.

First: Lewiston Road @ I-20 Interchange Closure
FEBRUARY 8-12, 2024

The contractor for the Lewiston Rd Widening Project, ER Snell, will implement a 90-Hour Road Closure and Detour of Lewiston Rd / Horizon South Pkwy (SR388) at I-20 Exit 190 to finalize work related to the Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) configuration conversion.

STARTING AT 12:00PM (NOON) ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2024, AND LASTING THROUGH 6:00AM ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2024, WEATHER PERMITTING, THE FOLLOWING WILL BE CLOSED:
• I-20 Exit 190 Interchange - There will be no traffic access between I-20 Exit 190 and Lewiston Rd / Horizon South Pkwy.
• I-20 Exit 190 Overpass – There will be no traffic permitted across the Lewiston Rd / Horizon South Pkwy overpass over I-20.
• Lewiston Rd between I-20 West Ramp and William Few Pkwy – There will be no through traffic permitted along this section of Lewiston Rd.
• Horizon South Pkwy between I-20 East Ramp and Gateway Blvd - There will be no through traffic permitted along this section of Horizon South Pkwy.

DURING THE AFOREMENTIONED CLOSURES, A DETOUR WILL BE POSTED FOR THE INTERCHANGE CLOSURE THAT WILL UTILIZE:
• I-20 Exit 183 Appling Harlem Hwy (US 221/SR 47) to the West
• I-20 Exit 194 South Belair Rd / Jimmie Dyess Pkwy) (SR 383) to the East
Columbia County and ER Snell will have staff monitoring and managing traffic conditions at and along the detour route as necessary.

Second: Temporary Lane Closures on Lewiston Road from Columbia Road to William Few Parkway

Contractors with E. R. Snell will continue construction activities related to the roadway widening project for Lewiston Road in Columbia County. The intermittent, lane closure will be from Columbia Road to William Few Parkway, for Paving. The scheduled activities will take place on Monday, February 05, 2024, through Friday, February 16, 2024, from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe.

Whenever you approach a work zone: slow down; allow extra distance between vehicles; watch for advanced warning signs; obey road crew flaggers; and expect the unexpected. If possible, please plan to take an alternate route and/or allow additional time for commuting during this timeframe.
