We’ve done a lot of hands on creating this semester and it’s so satisfying. The purpose of these exercises isn’t to become a professional tile maker, or fabric designer, or wood turner, but to understand just some pieces of the processes that go into producing beautiful (and custom) materials. Many of us will send custom designs off for our clients and if we understand the process and how involved it is then we’ll be more capable of know what’s possible, what’s not, and how a drawing transitions into a three dimensional object.

Pictured: the clay mold to create my plaster mold, which will help me duplicate these into a few fire clay tiles

I’d like go down a rabbit hole on how this sink is made but I’ll have to save it for another day. We are learning how to design custom fabric 👀 it may be on theme with this photo…and I’m pretty excited! If it turns out well I’ll share! Stay warm during this cold snap atx friends!! 🥶

My kitchen is unexpectedly matching the vibes of this all white minimalist design by . I’m really learning to love and embrace it! I love a minimalist aesthetic & the low maintenance feeling it brings. But I love it most in a building with extraordinary architectural detail, something missing in my builder grade home. I’m thinking up ways to make it feel purposeful and luxurious, but not out of place in my home. TBD!

On another note, the lineup of courses this semester is 👌👌👌 I CAN’T WAIT to share what we’ll be doing!

I’m very swoon with this little dinning space by .studio. Also attempting not to think about the magnitude of my kitchen project at the moment…looking for dinning nook inspo is just better.

I’ll have an update on the kitchen in the next couple of days, but have to say…I love the clean look of no backsplash! The wall will be finished with a mineral paint, which is more environmentally friendly, breathable, wipeable, stain resistant, AND a matte finish. It sounds too good to be true but I’m banking on it being pure magic.

Farmhouse by
If you’re going to do farm house, THIS is how you do it in a timeless way. Stunning 19th century sofa and antique rug.
Ideally I believe a home should be a compliment to its environment, I’m not anti-farmhouse, but I prefer them to be actual farmhouses, on farms, or at least in the country. I’d encourage anyone redoing their home or building to make sure the more permanent features of their home are very timeless and not in line with a theme or popular fad in the moment. Drive around your area, what is long lasting and beautiful for the environment you’re in? Embracing the heart of your own landscape and region can surprise you!
