The evolution of “Foxy.” I’m trying a different approach to loosen up, but still overworked it. I’m stepping away for now, and might revisit later. I’ll look with a fresh eye to see what I can do.

“Stormy” - I struggled with this one. Painting small has its own challenges, and I still see things that need to be fixed, but I’ve spent too much time on it. Every time I revisit it I introduce a new fixer. 😒

I’ll keep it around and maybe revisit eventually. For now, it’s time to start fresh. I guess I’m done.

I did have some good experiences with this painting though. I didn’t use any black…and I love black. I forced myself to keep going and try to resolve it, whereas in the past I’d just move on. I started with the intention of painting more loosely. Fail. 🤪 That’s my goal. Simplify. Stay loose. Paint faster. Don’t get caught in the details. I have some ideas for my next painting though. I’ve outlined some steps to achieve my vision. We’ll see if I can break free!

I’ve been painting a lot this week. Intuitive painting, exploring a timed 20 minute process, and playing with different media combos to see what will happen. The last two aren’t even paintings at all! One is the rigid substrate I was using to paint on paper with (green stripe 💚), and the last is how my palette looks after all the paint dried. 🎨 👩🏻‍🎨 😃

• Figure drawing from imagination and memory
• Ink, oil pastel, paint pens (beach scale is off, but bright & fun)

Happy Monday with this monarch tumbler cup from my last kiln load. 🦋 🧡🤎

I’m enjoying testing the laser engraving process with some of my existing images. The dishwasher tests are holding up well, too! Now I need to get busy creating some different designs. 🤓

I haven’t been able to paint in a while, as I’ve been building up my pottery inventory, while testing out new processes. I finally had some “procrastination” time to paint today. This isn’t finished yet, but I’m starting to like the direction. It was a nice change from what I’ve been working on in the studio.

This is acrylic on cradle board birch panel, vs. my usual “dailies” on paper.

Somehow, I was thinking Déjà vu when painting it. Must be the title… 🤔
