You’re 30 minutes away from a fun weeknight meal that will rival any takeout joint.
Make beef gyro meat right at home using a sheet pan.
We leveled up this recipe by using Omaha Steaks premium Wagyu ground beef. It’s rich, tender and buttery and tastes delicious with all the middle eastern spices.
Make it ahead of time for an easy meal prep solution.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound Omaha Steaks ground wagyu beef
- ½ white onion, grated
- 1 tablespoon plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon zaatar
- 3/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 5 pieces of parchment paper
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Mix the meat together in a bowl with onion, garlic, olive oil, yogurt, and spices.
Divide into quarters. Scoop a quarter of the meat onto parchment paper. Cover with another piece of parchment paper, and use a rolling pin to flatten to about ¼ inch thick.
Remove the top layer of parchment paper, then roll the meat on the single sheet of parchment paper and place on a cookie sheet.
Repeat three more times.
Bake the baking sheet of the 4 rolled up parchment papers in the oven for 30 minutes.
Remove and shred.
If you’d like crisper edges, feel free to broil the pieces for 2 minutes to get it extra crispy.
Serve in pitas with the toppings and fillings of your choice.
