📍2195 Bronson Hill Rd. Howdy from behind the scenes of the Bloom Saloon, I'm Sara! I moved from the Wild West in Nevada to Western NY where I run a small homestead and flower farm with my family. I'm passionate about growing all things, and love to help people start gardens of their own. I sell my fresh flowers and my homemade goods from the Bloom Saloon. We raise heritage breed turkeys and free range chickens too. I always love to connect with fellow gardeners and flower lovers. If that's you, say hi don't be shy! 💐

Hope to see you there!

The very last of my dried floral pumpkins for the season are out in the stand. Love these cutie little pumpkins so much and it looks like you all do as well, thank you so much for the support for the floral arts! I’m so grateful I can be creative in this farm stand endeavor. Harvest season is BUSY around here and we are prepping for some new things for next season as well, very excited for the slow down though!

I forgot to open the Bloom this morning 😂 That’s a first! Around here we call it “The Bloom” for short. I was just enjoying my coffee still in my pjs and scrolling social media when it occurred to me I should look at the clock. Clock read 10:10! Stand opens at 10am. Oops!

She’s open now with fall goodies like this simmer pot jar, smudge stick, and hand painted greeting card.

It’s official— fresh flowers are done here at the Bloom Saloon for the season. Dried floral items are available along with simmer pot jars, local honey, blind-date-in-a-books, and more. Open daily in the Wild West of New York.

Dried flowers have a special spot in my heart! Preserved with care and ready for their spot in the creative realm. I’m having a lot of fun with the floral pumpkins and will have the last of them out by the weekend including more of the mini pumpkins.

Have you seen my spider theme at the Bloom Saloon this month? Consider this exposure therapy if you don’t like spiders! Real spiders included but I don’t have control over those. There was a beautiful orb weaver down there but she’s outside don’t worry. Or, she was anyway. 🕷️

Our Halloween Farmstand Hop with the stands on Bronson Hill is coming up, come get your spidey fix. I’ll be down there in costume handing out free treats!

Yesterday I picked up a bucket of dahlias from Bluebird Hill Flower Farm , took a quick photo of them looking pretty in the car, but on the way home a large buck ran right in front of me on Bronson Hill and the bucket dumped. He was gorgeous. Thankfully I did not hit him, but I was also driving below the speed limit as I usually do on our road because of this very reason. So many deer live in the woods all around us and I wish the speed limit were 45 and not 55, so I drive 45… and sometimes upset the drivers behind me, but I’d do anything for these deer! 🦌 Keep your eyes peeled, friends.

Before fall swept us all up I had lovely Lindsay B images out for a photoshoot, excited to share some of the photos with you! Thank you Lindsay for capturing the magic of the farm and gardens. She did the girl’s senior photos for us and a branding shoot and was so patient with all the shots we hoped to get and then some. Farm season happens so quick and often I look like a sweaty mess outside, so this is such a treat and feels good after all the hard work. Love the photos with the turkeys in the garden especially!

Hope you enjoy the shots!

I absolutely love growing sponges. 44 total for this year! Out of all the food, flowers, herbs, and medicine I grow, I have to say luffas are one of the coolest things we can grow in our gardens and use all year. I started these from seed indoors in April in paper towels then used the soil blocking method. They were transplanted after the frost and grown 100% organically and fully untreated which is how I have managed this garden the past two years. A polyculture garden doesn’t need as much maintenance as mono culture gardens do.

Luffas are gourds. They are technically edible at small stages, maybe this year I’ll try to cook some of the smaller ones that have popped up late on the vine.

I save seeds each year and also get them from Johnnys and Baker Creek. I have different methods to process these and while it takes a lot of time it’s so worth it. Great way to reduce plastic use and these are 100% compostable! If you’re local I will be hosting a workshop to make your own soap-pocket sponge in the off season. The prep work is now getting them cleaned out and dried. Then simply soak them to soften and work with in the future. I sold out of these sponges last season and was able to grow 14 more this year for 44 total. I got some from another farm but out of those as well just in time for our own harvest season. Consider growing these in your garden next season! They do best on a trellis.
