Two of my favorite expressions of art, side by side.

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to spend time with my dear friend , hand selecting a collection of his signature works for the shoppe, including his iconic vintage floral illustrations. His pieces have always felt like a kindred language to me, rooted in nature, layered in history, and carrying that quiet, nostalgic beauty that only true artistry holds. They make the most thoughtful Easter gifts, pieces meant to be treasured and passed down.

Alongside them, our brooch collection, each one entirely hand made to order. Tiny works of art in their own right. Butterflies, florals, beetles, each piece rich with detail and wonder, perfectly imperfect in the way only hand craftsmanship can be. They too make perfectly perfect Easter gifts, full of meaning and story.

My great grandmother, Peggy, never left home without a brooch. It was her signature, an expression of personality, elegance, and intention. I love the idea of carrying that tradition forward through these perfectly perfect, hand crafted pieces.

This is what I love most, surrounding yourself with objects that feel collected, not just purchased. Pieces that hold meaning, memory, and story.

There is something so special about the traditions that welcome spring.

These are not replicas… they are real eggs, delicately hollowed and entirely handmade by artisans in Austria, where this craft has been passed down for generations.
Each one is unique.

Some are adorned with soft florals, others with delicate trims, hand-painted details, tiny ribbons, and intricate textures… no two ever the same. It’s this variety that makes them feel so personal, as if each one is waiting to find its home.

I’ve always believed the most meaningful pieces are the ones that carry a story… and these feel like little heirlooms of the season.

They’re perfectly perfect.

Whether you hang them on an Easter tree, tuck them into a spring table, or gift them to someone you love, they bring that quiet kind of beauty that makes the season feel special.

The Ribbon Wall has arrived at The Margaret Cleveland.

From a young age I’ve loved making bows to adorn the wreaths I created for family for each season.

As a kid I was always drawn to beautiful ribbon. The textures, the colors, the way a simple loop could transform a package, a wreath, or a tree. Somewhere along the way, access to truly fine ribbon became harder to find, and I missed it.

So creating our Ribbon Wall here at The Margaret Cleveland has been something very special for me.

A special thank you to Kathy, whose creativity brought this display to life so beautifully.

We are proud to carry D. Stevens, widely considered the gold standard of fine ribbon. Their craftsmanship, textures, and patterns make bow-making a true joy, whether you’re decorating for the holidays, dressing up a gift, or adding something beautiful to your home.

They are Perfectly Perfect.

These were the very first pieces I created officially as The Margaret Cleveland 12 years ago today.

At the time, I didn’t fully know what they represented. That’s what makes them so meaningful now.

Rooted in the woman who shaped me and created to be shared with the community we were building in the arts district we helped bring to life, they came together intuitively rather than intentionally named.

Succulents, mothers by nature, chosen for their quiet beauty and resilience. Over time, their meaning revealed itself. New life forming at the base, independence alongside connection, growth that happens slowly and without force.

I sourced the vessels in Asheville over Christmas break, drawn to pieces that felt timeworn and storied. Back in our studio, these became the first physical expression of something that had yet to find its language.

It’s no surprise that my last post of the year was a wreath made of succulents for my mother for Christmas. The story has always been circular. Rooted in love, care, and what we carry forward.

The Margaret Cleveland has always been about honoring where things come from and creating space for what comes next.

This year, I’m excited to bring more of my own designed pieces into the framework of the shoppe.

This piece was created especially for my mother, where my love of gardening comes from, for Christmas.

Taking the time to make it felt like a gift in itself. It brought me right back to my childhood, pulling grapevines from the trees in Grams’ backyard, twisting them into wreaths, and adorning them with faux flowers and bows for each season. I’d make them for everyone in the family, all year long.

Working with your hands and natural materials holds a kind of magic. Memory lives there. This one felt like a full circle moment, where the past gently meets the present.

Next year, I hope to create more pieces like this for the shoppe, using the treasures and materials I’ve gathered as we’ve built out the twelve spaces across the gardens. I’m also excited to begin offering classes, inviting you to slow down, create with your hands, and make something meaningful of your own.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours and all of us at The Margaret Cleveland

What began as a tribute rooted in memory, tradition, and love has grown into something far beyond what we ever imagined. Winter’s first snow has a way of slowing everything down and reminding us of the quiet magic of the season. Seeing the gardens dusted in white and our first Silvertips standing tall feels like a moment meant to be savored.

We’re deeply grateful for the love and support that continues to surround Margie’s community and this place we cherish so much. Thank you for being part of the magic, the traditions, and the memories this season and always.

With heartfelt thanks,
The Hellers

A Christmas Eve tradition continues. Today I followed Grams’ tradition of decorating our tree, of course a Silvertip.

Taking inspiration from her and GG’s tree, this year I adorned her with birds, velvet beaded balls, and Shiny Brite ornaments. Every piece brought back the joy, memories, and happiness their tree gave to all of us.

There’s truly nothing like decorating a Christmas Chris’s Silvertip. The tree glows. Its natural spacing allows for layering ornaments with ease, and even before a single decoration is added, she’s beautiful on her own.

The kiddos took the lead on a second tree in our living room, filled with our family collected ornaments, and she came out absolutely fabulous. Each piece carries a story of where it came from, and watching them bring those memories to life was pure joy.

As many have shared, these trees are just as special after Christmas. Some plan to remove the ornaments and keep their Silvertip as a sculptural piece in their home, extending the magic well beyond the season.

Merry Christmas Eve. May you enjoy time with those you love and celebrate all the beauty of the season.

Our Only Sale of the Year

As we close out the Christmas season, we’re offering a rare moment to enjoy special savings on our holiday collections— our fabulous faux Christmas trees, ornaments, décor, forever florals, garlands, greens, and poinsettias.

Many of our guests collect ornaments over time—changing them out year to year or adding the one that stayed with them after wandering the shoppes. This is a beautiful opportunity to begin—or widen—your collection with pieces meant to be brought out for Christmases to come.

Holiday collections are 25% off, and with the purchase of a tree, enjoy 30% off—our way of helping Christmas feel fully finished.

And if you’ve never experienced the joy of more than one tree in your home, this is a wonderful moment to try. An entryway, a kitchen, a bedroom—each space telling its own story. With our wide variety of trees, it’s especially fun to explore different styles, including our newest Christmas Chris’s Silvertip.

We’re also excited to welcome several wonderful local makers to The Gallery Mystic on the second floor of the Farmhouse for our Makers Market this weekend—please note that makers’ items are not part of the promotion.

This weekend, we invite you to wander a little further. Upstairs in The Gallery Mystic, tucked on the second floor of the Farmhouse, four local artisans will be sharing work made slowly, thoughtfully, and by hand.

Our Makers Market is a small, intimate gathering—pieces meant to be discovered, not rushed.

Hand-crafted letterpress leather and paper goods with a timeless, tactile feel.

Hand-made candles designed to bring warmth, glow, and ritual into everyday moments.

Vintage and hand-made treasures, each with a story and a sense of history.

Hand-made oyster shell ornaments—simple, beautiful keepsakes inspired by the sea.

A perfect stop while exploring our Acre of Wonder—supporting local makers and finding something that feels just right.
